The Rain

The wind screamed past Emilia's ears. Rain fell heavily from the sky. Coating everything in a clear protective layer. Emilia tugged her sweater tighter around her body and walked a little faster.

She kept her head down and trudged as quickly as she could through the now inch deep water. By the time she got to her apartment she was throughly soaked. She walked in and closed the door, leaning heavily against it. Her hair dripped water, making it look like blood before it fell silently to the floor.

She undressed and threw her wet clothes in a pile in the laundry room.
'I'll clean em later.'
She said to herself as she slid up the stairs. She walked into her room and dove on the bed, making the sheets fluff up and over her body. She sighed, momentarily blissful, when she heard it.
A quiet scratching. She sat up and looked around her room, trying to pinpoint the noise. Her window. Rain pounded against it but she knew it was coming from there. She stood and walked slowly to the window. A small white paw flashed up onto the window pane again and scratched softly. Her hands flew to the window and she pushed it open, grunting with the effort.
A small white cat was laying in its side. She could see it was barely breathing. After biting her lip and wringing her hands, she picked up the cat and slid the window shut. The cat meowed weakly and rubbed it's paw on its face.
"Should I name you?"
She mumbled to the small cat. The cat was silent. She laid him on a soft blanket by the pillows on her bed. The cat laid still and didn't make a sound.
"How about Aaron?"
She asked the cat, who didn't move a muscle. She looked outside and frowned.
" Snow?"
The cat flicked his tail and brushed it against her arm. She laughed quietly.
"Snow it is then."
The cat closed his eyes and purred gently. Emilia laid down beside him and pulled the blankets up to her chin.
