~•¤ Chapter 5 ¤•~

"Remember that on next week there will be an exam on the first three lessons. I have to collect the marks so you all better study hard for this exam. I got my hopes that you all are going to do well, so better not let me down," Mr.Brandon, our math teacher, said. He collected his books and added "Now you all may be dismissed." and left the class.

I groaned at the thought of studying math. I hated it and I wasn't that good at it either. I needed help every time I studied math and it sucked.

I collected my things and put them in the backpack, then stood up. "Do you wanna grab something to eat?" Marie asked as we both walked out of the class. "Sure. But I have work and I can't be late." I said and we both went out of the school. It's been a long time since I and Marie hung out. Either I would be busy with work, or she had to study. It was nice to finally spend some time with her.

We made our way to Subway. The place we always ate at since we liked it a lot. Every time we wanted a bite we would head to Subway. Just like now.

We entered and Riley's familiar face appeared into a view. Riley worked there and we always saw him. He had a crush on Marie but she didn't feel the same. He kept trying to get her to go with him on a date but she was way too stubborn to agree. He wasn't annoying at all, he was quite nice actually. We always had a laugh when he tried to ask her out. And she didn't seem to mind him.

"Hello girls. Long time no see." Riley greeted us with a smile, which made his deep dimples to appear on both of his cheeks. "Hey Riley." I said and Marie waved at him. "So what do you wanna get today?" he asked getting ready to make us sandwiches. "I'll have turkey with cheese and pickles, but wheat bread not white. And I'll have pineapple juice." I told him as he made the sandwich and wrapped it with the restaurant's familiar paper. I was a healthy sort of person, I really tried to watch out for my weight.

He looked at Marie waiting to know her order. She shrugged and said "You know you can put everything in there. I don't mind it." which caused me and Riley to laugh. Marie had a big appetite that she would eat like an elephant, literally. And it was weird since she barely weighted one hundred pounds. She had a figure of a model.

Riley did the same with her sandwich as he did with mine and gave me my juice. I got my wallet out and was ready to pay for both me and Marie, as Riley said "Leave it on the house." He added a wink and I laughed. I knew that he was joking, he just liked to act like a gentleman.

"Stop the corny stuff, Ri." I joked and gave him the total. He gave us our food and before we could go, he stopped us and said "Hey Marie, how about me and you go out for dinner tonight?" he wiggled his eyebrows as she rolled her eyes. And I chuckled at their behaviors. "I already told you no, million times." Marie uttered and he laughed.

I and Marie walked with our food and sat on a table. "So are you doing anything this weekend?" Marie asked taking a bite from her sandwich. I was already munching on mine, so I waited till I swallowed, then answered her. "I guess I'll be studying and working. Same old." I shrugged, already knowing that fun was not on my to-do list this weekend.

"Come on you gotta get out of the boring circle you're in. Chill out girl you can't stay like this!" she hissed at me and I was agreeing one hundred percent with her in my mind, but I was nearly hopeless at this case. I loved my work and all but I didn't have enough time to go out with my friends like other kids my age.

"You know I can't do anything about it. But I promise I'll take a day off or leave early so we can hang out all day." I promised and gave her a smile. She sighed and said "Okay."

We kept catching up and she started rambling about how Jake looked amazing today. She seriously had a problem!

I looked at my phone and checked the time to find it five thirty. My eyes widened in shock and I knew I was late. How did time pass so fast? I stood up and threw my backpack over my shoulder and Marie looked at me confused. "What's wrong?" she asked and stood up as well. "I'm late," I said and I was ready to walk out, run actually.
