Why is makeup called makeup?
If you fail a test at school you can make up the test
If you do something wrong you can make up for what you did
If you and your boyfriend break up you can make up with him
To “make up” something usually means you are fixing a mistake
No one’s face should be considered a mistake they need to make up
Society yells “YOU ARE FLAWED! YOU ARE FLAWED!”
And then gives you the supposed solution
Here.
Here is some makeup
Make up the flaws on your face with this
That is not how it should be
I think makeup should not be called makeup
I think it should be called enhancer
You take the beauty you already have and enhance it
You create art
Your face should not be thought of as flawed or a mistake
Your face should be thought of as a beautiful canvas
Your canvas is already painted with your eyes, nose, and smile but it can be enhanced not made up
There is nothing to make up, only features you already have that can be enhanced
Makeup is not a fixer-upper
Makeup is an art
