Jane was sitting outside. She saw an old lady dropping all her papers and coins across the street. Jane raced acoss the street, dodging each car the was flying by. A car had almost hit Jane, but she managed to jump over it, some how. Jane assisted the lady by catching all the papers that went flying every were, and colleting the coins that almost went down the city drain.

"Why thank you young lady." Her voice was shaky, but it sounded sweet.

"It was no problem ma'am. Youre Welcome." Jane said, kindly.

"I can give you a wish. A winter wish." Jane thought through it. surely a silly winter wish wouldnt come true. But she didnt want to offend the old lady so Jane acted interested.

"A winter wish?"

"Yes...It has been passed on to those who help others..." A small snow flake had fallen to the cement. The old ladies face spreaded with a smile.

"The next snow flake that falls, catch it. Then close your eyes and make a wish. Crumble the snow flake, then blow it gently out of your hands. And on Christmas eve, it will come true."

Jane waited, then finally, a small snowflake floated gently into her hand. Jane shut my eyes and made a wish. She crumbled the snow and blew it gently.

"Now run home, young lady. Its getting dark." Jane said her goodby's to the lady, and ran home.

Janes mother was talking to a gentlemen with a suit.

"......Yes.....Christmas eve.......be.......realesed." There voices were muffled and Jane only heard those words.

"Mother who is this nice gentlemen?" Jane asked politely.

"Jane run along and play. We are having a serious conversation, one that you are to young to understand and engaged in." She gently pushed Jane away. Jane frowned.

'She doesnt apreaciate my kindness or curiosity' Jane thought.

Janes mother never really apreaciatted other womens good deeds or curiosity. She thought that they were attenching seeking and rebelious. Did Jane mention how much her mother hated rebels. She thought that single minded opinions didnt help the word. If it didnt solve the depression, It wasnt useful.
