Someone once asked me if I believe life exists elsewhere in the universe.

I thought of the freckle constellation decorating your body

and how your eyes are the aurora borealis,

green and blue and dancing the most beautiful waltz I've ever seen.

I thought of the night you crashed the car

and how my fingers trace the raised Saturn-ring scar on your hip.

I thought of the way the you wax and wane like the moon,

your gravity pulling me in like the tide.

I thought of you and your celestial being and simply said yes.

Because despite all the dead matter that make up planets and stars,

nothing is more alive than you.
