Chapter One
I walked out of the airplane, stopping only for a second just to take a deep breath. I'm finally home. I smiled, finally, after five years in Italy I'm finally home, and can't wait to see my family, that I miss dearly. I went over to the luggage rack, picked up my deep green suitcase and started walking towards the exit. I couldn't stop smiling. Joy flushed over me as I started reminiscing about all of the memories of when I was living in America. I could see from the glass doors that the sun was out. I took off my black coat and tied up my curly chestnut hair into a ponytail, with the only thought that was running through my mind was that I'm finally home.
While walking through the airport, I listen to the distorted sound of voices overlapping each other, noticing little children tugging on their parents' clothes impatiently wanting to leave already, an old man in a black suit with a fedora on his head reading the local newspaper through his half-moon glasses, a young woman anxiously waiting for someone to arrive. Then she spotted a man in an army uniform, she rushed through the crowd of people and jumped onto the man, catching her in his arms, embracing with her legs and arms wrapped around him.
While I was about the reach for the handle of the door, a gentleman opened it for me, I looked up, smiling I opened my mouth to thank the person, but my voice failed to speak and shock electrocuted my whole being. I knew that face. From a long time ago, from another lifetime, a memory I tried to forget. His honey eyes wide with shock, that deep chocolate hair of his that was always messy giving him the schoolboy look was now gone, being neatly styled and groomed.
"Elliot?" I choked.
"Aria?"
~5 years earlier~
I nervously walked down the empty halls of my new school. Click. Clack. Click. Clack. Echoed in the halls from the noise of my shoes. I looked around to see if anyone was around. Confirming that no one was around. I took a deep breath, reassuring myself that this time will be different. I smoothed my black skirt, my hands were shaking. I wandered down the halls looking for the Main Office, I kept telling myself to calm down. God. I'm such a nervous wreck.
I passed the classrooms, a noise caught my attention, beautiful music, it was coming from one of the rooms. I looked over to see what room it was, Music Room, I tried to tell myself it's none of my business and I need to look for the main office but alas curiosity got the better of me. I slowly opened the door just a bit to get a glimpse of what was going on inside. There I saw a handsome boy. Sitting on top of one of the wooden tables, playing the guitar. I watched him as he strummed the guitar. I couldn't help but stare at him. He was beautiful, his shaggy deep chocolate hair hung over his eyes as his head leaned over focusing on the guitar. His serious expression as he played on, the way his fingers delicately dance upon the strings of the guitar. His tall stature, the sharp, strong jawline. He was attractive beyond anything I have ever laid my eyes on.
I gasped, catching his attention, he looked up at me with his honey eyes confused. Embarrassment burned my cheeks. I quickly slammed the door shut and stood up against the lockers, praying that he wasn't going to come out of the classroom to see who I was.
I heard the click of the door handle and the door open. He walked out the door looking down the hallway one way and then the other, spotting me. Goodness, what a sight I must be. A small 5'3" girl with unruly curly chestnut hair, wide green eyes, and cheeks the shade of crimson pressed up against the lockers! Mortified, I tried to escape but failed, he grabbed my wrist pulling me towards him. I cover my burning face with my free hand. Basically a head taller than me, he bent down to analyze at my face.
"Hey, why are you hiding your face?" He asked.
"Because I'm embarrassed, my face probably is the shade of your shirt," I mumbled. As if he has forgotten what he was wearing today he looked down to see what the color of his shirt was, a deep crimson color, letting out a small laugh. He pulled my hand away from my face gently holding them in his. I looked down to the ground, desperately trying to avoid any eye contact with him. He chuckled again, bending to his knees, he looked at my face, smiling at me, amusement sparkled in his honey eyes.
"You are very interesting, I've never met a girl like you. I think I like you," He grinned.
"Wha... What?" I stammered, my heart was like stereo on full blast, my face was on fire, "Why... Why would you like... Like me...me?" I was sure he was messing with me.
"I have my reasons," flashing me a sly smile as he got up off his knees, he let go of my hands, although in my mind, I still wanted him to hold my hands, "My name is Elliot Morrison. And what may your name be, pretty lady?"
No one has ever called me pretty! I played with a strand of my curly chestnut hair, "Aria... Aria Jones," I squeaked.
~Present Time~
We just stood there. It was like a wave of memories crashed down upon me and flooding my brain. We were so appalled about seeing each other that we didn't notice that there were people standing behind us yelling at us to move.
"Hey, will you love birds move it aside so we can leave!" An old man yelled from behind, Completely flustered we moved to the side to let the people through. He looked at me with an amusing grin.
"What are you looking at?"
"You still blush exactly the same when we were in high school," He chuckled. Which made me blush even more.
