Cassandre POV
It's been two weeks ... Two weeks I am trying to move on with my life. Two weeks that I try to forget about what I saw and what I heard.
Derek texted me a few times but I told him that I was busy, which was just half true. I worked non-stop to escape my thoughts. Plus, I still needed time and I think he got the message since he hasn't been back to the apartement. Still, I can feel them watching over me. I can see their SUV following me all the time. Black is not the most discreet color if you ask me. Afer realising that they wouldn't stop, I tried to forget about it.
Alex and Cara didn't ask me any questions. They just asked me if I got home alright. Apparently, I texted them to say that I was not feeling well friday night even though I knew I didn't. I just nodded. I didn't want them to be a part of this ...
My shift was almost over. The lunch service was calm and I was starting to clean the tables. I glanced outside to see the switch of cars and smiled slightly. After observing the car in hope that it would go away, I just registered their timetable and every day at exactly 2 pm there was a change of car.
I grabbed a few glasses on the table I was taking care of and walked behind the bar to put them in the washer. I bent and I wasn't prepared to what I saw once I got up. I jumped a bit when I realised that Jake was sitted at the bar looking at me intensely. Once he saw my reaction, he smirked.
" Hello sweetheart !" he said with the most sexiest voice I have ever heard.
I pulled myself together and steadied my breathing after the fright I had.
" What do you want ?" I ask as if he was just a customer and not the man who haunted my dreams with his deep blue ocean eyes.
" I want to know how you are doing. We haven't heard from you in a while and I have to say that I am a little bit concerned about you." he explains leaning on the counter.
" You don't have to be. I'm fine." I say continuing my work " And I'm sure you know it too since you've sent your men to follow me around every day. I must suggest a training in discretion." I reply in a cold tone.
He smiled at me. And all I could was stare at his lips that revealed a perfect line of white teeth. I mean really ?? He just HAD to be really handsome and flawless. No one could not stare at him.
" Maybe I wanted you to know they were there. To remind you that I was here for you, just in case you wanted to talk." he whispered just for me to hear leaning more on the counter.
" Well, I don't need to talk so if you are not going to order anything. Please leave." I said looking down while I was cleaning the counter. He grabbed my wrist and I raised my head. His grip wasn't rough or anything but the feeling I got scared me. This unexepected move send shivers down my spine and got me gooseumps all over my body.
" Jake, I am working. My boss is watching me and oddly, he prefers when I work instead of talking. I can't talk outside of my breaks so if you don't want anything to drink just leave." I didn't break eye contact while I said that. I was a bit scared when I saw an angry look build in his eyes. I need to remind myself more often that Jake is nott just any guy but the most feared gangleader in town.
He let go of my arm and got up furiously. I sighed in relief seeing him walking towards the door. But instead of walking out, he went behind the counter and grabbed my arm. He looked at my boss and said with his commanding voice :
" She's taking a break !"
My boss didn't say anything and no one stopped him as he took me outside the restaurant through the backdoor. Man, I wouldn't have stopped him. He had his killer eyes on. He pinned to the wall of the alley and blocked me between his arms. I was scared as hell and I think he sensed it because his eyes softened instantly.
" Now you can talk and you can't runaway. " he finally said after minutes of silence and intense staring.
" What do you want to talk about ?" I replied with a shaking voice.
He put a hand in his hair and closed his eyes for a second. He sighed and looked back at me.
" Why didn't you text ? Your brother is heartbroken and sad. We all are." he said in a soft voice.
I, on the other hand was shocked. I could see the hurt in his eyes. Why did he care so much ? Then, I remenbered his 'promise' : that he wouldn't give up on me. I didn't think he was serious. I thought he had better things to do than chasing me. Better girls around him. I wasn't anything special and as sure wasn't hot at all. The only thing that got me to stand out was my hair.
" I- I told you I needed time " I stutter not able to steady my voice or sound honest. His eyes pierced a little more the wall I tried so desperatly to keep up.
" You've had tow weeks. It's more than enough. And if it was only me, I would have came much sooner. So, why didn't you text ?" he looked at me with serious eyes and I really didn't know what to say to him...
" I just thought that if I didn't text, you would forget about me and I would be able to go back to my normal life. Maybe find a NORMAL guy to date. I didn't sign up for the ganggirl's part !" I didn't realised I was yelling until I saw Jake shocked expression.
He let his arms fall back to his side and took a step backwards which allowed me to breath a little more easily.
" I know you didn't. But I won't let you slip away Cassie." he stated.
I didn't have the time to ask him for an explanation that he had already walked away. A car pulled out at the end of the street and he got in. Seconds later, they drove away.
I exhaled heavily and got my hand on my forehead trying to sort out what the hell just happened. What did he mean by 'I won't let you slip away' ?
I took a couple more of deep breath and got back inside the restaurant to finish my day.

I got home from work pretty early so I decided to stop at the store to buy some wine for tonight. After what happened earlier. I needed a good drink.
After showering and putting on a comfy grey short and top pyjama, I decided to cook myself a homemade diner. I just got off cooking school so you can imagine what I made myself. As I was looking at my boiling water, I started singing and dancing to the music bursting out of my headphones.
I picked out my wine glass and took a few sips before spinning to the rythm of the music and singinf Popular of Mika and Ariana Grande out loud in my appartement. Eyes closed just feeling the sensation of not giving a shit about anything for a few minutes. I stopped to take another sip and I felt chilly so I decided to go and put my 'I love London' that was in my room. I dropped my glass on the floor in shock when I turned around to head out.
Just in front of me stood Jake. A bottle of wine in one hand and white peonnies in the other.
