A/n: I plan on editing and cleaning up this chapter after completing this short story. This chapter was written in the early stages and needs a little love. The rest should be relatively fine. So keep that in mind when reading!

"Charlie!" The head of her new spritely personal assistant whom she personally hired a few weeks ago, peeked through the door to her office.

"Yes, Ms. Connor?" Jillian Conner hung up the phone and turned from the expansive city view before her to face the young woman, an warm smile on her lips.

"Please Charlie, there's no need to continue with the formalities. If you plan to be working with me longer than a few weeks, just call me Jillian." Her assistant nodded with a polite smile on her face. Jillian seemed pleased with this. Just because she was the head of human resources and on board of H.G Rogers, a very large and powerful corporate company, didn't mean she believed in the corporate hierarchy. Still, she upheld a certain business propriety, and always maintained to keep a professional charismatic persona because despite what her work showed for, some saw a 29 year-old woman as too young and inexperienced to hold such a large position in the company. But thankfully, the right people, thought otherwise. The right people being the CEO and owner of the Company, Rogers and Klein themselves. And given the fortunate position that she had by Mr. Rogers and Klein 2 years ago, she set out to prove her naysayers wrong and dedicated her life to her job.

And dedicate she did, for the company faired well under her leadership, with an expansion in markets, more efficient company systems and policies, the creation of newer innovative projects, and of course, better dousing of the competition. But all these things, left her little time for anything else, particularly in regards to her personal life. And after the first year in the position, she began to work on balancing just that, like for example, taking a lunch break which she had planned to do right now.

"I just want to know you if you had sent those files over to Jim like I asked? He threw that early deadline on me out of nowhere." She said shaking her headed.

"Yes. I sent them this morning, Ms. Conn—" She gave her assistant a light warning look. "I mean Jillian." Jillian chuckled quietly.

"And those were encrypted, right?" She asked remembering that those particular files were of the delicate nature, and could bode well for the future of the company, especially with the annual press release coming up in a few months.

"yes ma'am." Jillian nodded, standing up and smoothing out her new cream colored skirt and white blouse that did well to complement her younger figure and lush auburn hair. She had bought the outfit recently and decided to wear it today for the special occasion later on tonight. She figured just because she worked at the office, didn't mean she had dress like she was in her 50s, wearing baggy monotone conservative pant-suits that absolutely flattered no one.

"Great, well I'm going out for lunch. You're more than welcome to come if you would like."
Charlie, her assistant, look a little flustered by the invitation, but politely shook her head.

"Oh no, that's alright I have a few more things to do."

"Then, I'll pick you up something. What would you like?" Charlie could see Jillian wasn't leaving without her response being what she wanted to eat for lunch.

"Um- a turkey sandwich would be lovely. Thank you, Jillian."

"Not problem at all. And I know just the place where they make these turkey sandwiches with cranberry—hmm, I'm getting hungry just thinking about it. "
Charlie laughed at her boss' behavior while Jillian grabbed her purse.
"Well, I'll be back. Hold the fort down for me."
And with elegant strides, she walked toward the elevators of the 24th floor.
