It was Monday, the 27th of August 1985,
an exceptionally pretty cool and rainy summer day...
I was on an airplane, next to my mother, and hoped to arrive in Canada as soon as possible.
For such a long time I was looking forward to this day.
I felt free for the first time after many years.
I was 10 years old at the time, however I differed in my way of thinking and my manner in comparison to the kids in the same age.
Maybe that had always been the reason why I didn't have an easy time.
I continued to stare at the rain, thought about the reasons why mom and I sat in this plane at all and reflected on my past.
I was bullied and excluded for years.
And that in my lifetime of only 10 years.
I don't exactly know why but I guess because I was different than them.
I often changed schools but it never became better.
Mom and dad constantly were fighting, after all they divorced.
She decided with me to move far away, to start a new life.
A new life in a new town and a new country, in which we simply could pretend to be new persons.
I didn't even come along with mom magnificently, but it still was better than staying with dad.
Mother always wanted to go to Canada, nevertheless she took consideration and asked me where I wanted to go.
Since I didn't care and the only thing that mattered to me was to come out of Germany, we let her dream come true.
And so we sat in an airplane at the 27th of august of 1985 and couldn't wait to land.
