Pregnancy - Week 31

Maks woke up one night to a cold Peta side of the bed. He sighed and looked at the clock seeing that it was 3 in the morning. He stood up and found his sweater and pulled it over his head before heading out to find his wife. He started in the nursery which they had finally gotten all put together and finished. It had come out beautifully he thought as they managed to combine styles for both babies without having one be showcased more than the other. He knew that she sometimes liked to curl up in the rocker when she couldn't sleep. He was in luck as he found his girl curled up in the corner of that very rocker with a pensive look on her face. She had one of the blankets they had gotten for the babies wrapped around her legs as she watched out the window into the night sky.

"My cuddle buddy was missing." Maks said softly making her jump as she realized he was standing there. When she looked at him, he found see the faint tear tracks on her cheeks.

"I couldn't sleep." She said shrugging as she looked at him.

"Nightmare?" He asked moving over to her. He sat on the foot rest facing her and rested his hand on her knee moving his thumb back and forth. He hand came down to rest on his and she squeezed gently glad that he was there.

"Yeah but it wasn't bad. Then my hip was bothering me and I just couldn't get situated enough to go back to sleep." She said shrugging.

"I'd say you should have woke me up but I think I know better by now. I do wish you would though sweetheart. I want to help." He said catching her eyes.

"I know...I just figured you were out and I thought if I just sat up for a bit it would settle and then I could come back to bed. Plus you always look so peaceful and content and that's so soothing to me."

"Was it the same dream?" He asked. For the past week or so she had been having the same nightmare over and over again. She'd go into labor while no one was around and then something would happen and she couldn't save both babies. They had talked about it on many occasions but it still didn't help that feeling of dread waking up from something so visual.

"Same one, Ella didn't make it this time. I don't get it Maks. I mean I do. I've read up on the anxieties and everything but still. It's morbid and upsetting. And we've talked about it. It's not like I have this pent up anxiety in me that I'm not sharing with you. My brain can give it up." She said getting frustrated. She went to move and hissed as the pain in her hip seemed to worsen so she dropped back against the chair.

"Come here." Maks said as he stood up. He gently scooped her body up and carried her back to their room, careful to not jostle her body too much. Once they were in their room, he laid her down on the bed on her side. Then he moved behind her and began to work out the knots in her back.

"Your hands are magic, Maksim." She said in utter relief.

"I'm glad they help pretty girl." He said as they then both became silent. He was concentrating on giving her some relief. She however was spinning things in her head.

"Maks..." She whispered softly after quite sometime of just letting his fingers loosen her muscles.

"Yeah?" He said stopping his movements on her muscles.

"Come here." She beckoned him.

"Where pretty girl? I'm right here." He said slightly confused.

"This side. I wanna lay with you." She requested.

"That I can handle." He said as he moved to the other side of her and helped her get situated as close as she could to him. She was the most content on the left side of his body with her ear above his heart. The twins were making that slightly difficult right now.
