People of all sorts hung around the club that night. They all came from different backgrounds with different families and different social cliques; However if you asked them, I'm sure most would tell you they came here for one thing: a distraction. From what? We may never know. Maybe they had family problems they were running from or maybe they were just dumped by their partner. I could be wrong, though. They might have just been there because they were looking hella fine that night and wanted to show off their hot bodies. Who's to say?

But Dan was most certainly there for distractions. He was currently sat at the bar, sipping a water. The forms swaying awkwardly on the dance floor behind him were giving off an uncomfortable kind of heat. People were crowded together, seemingly trying to get as much human contact as possible. Dan doubted they even knew half the people they were pressed up against, but he didn't blame them. It didn't really matter who it was as long as they were there.

He'd never had many friends; Just many acquaintances. But there was one person that Dan could definitely count as a friend if he wanted to. That person was Tyler, the bartender.

Tyler was a bit too talkative for Dan's taste, but he certainly made good company. The guy never shut up. He was maybe a little eccentric in other people's eyes. With his mint green hair and boisterous laugh, it wasn't hard to see why. He was just different. Luckily, there wasn't any room for Dan to judge, seeing as how he definitely wasn't normal either. Unless, of course, you considered sleeping with every warm body you could get your hands on normal.

Tonight, Tyler was rambling about some cute boy he'd bumped into earlier in the day. Dan was surprised he hadn't passed out yet from all the nonstop talking he was doing. He had to be lightheaded at least; right?

It didn't seem that way as the flaming homosexual continued to pour all his thoughts and feelings onto the other boy. As annoying as it was, Dan wasn't going to complain. This was a decent distraction to keep him busy until he could get his hands on a better one.

"So, what about you, Dan?", Tyler asked suddenly.

Dan, having been tuned out the entire conversation, fumbled around for words for a few moments before blurting out, "Oh- erm, yeah. Sounds great."

The other boy raised his eyebrows at the response but continued to smile like a bloody idiot. "I was asking you about your plans for the evening. Thanks for listening."

"Oops. Sorry, Ty," Dan blushed profusely at his own social ineptness. "Just the usual. Gonna try to find someone to hook up with, but the chances of that happening aren't looking so good tonight."

Glancing around at the other dwellers in the club that night, Tyler hummed in agreement. "Don't think there's anyone lonely enough to stoop down to your level tonight, Danny boy."

"Hey!" Dan laughed, shoving his friend jokingly.

"What? We all know it's true."

"This is child abuse."

Tyler said something else after that, but Dan was quite suddenly distracted from the conversation when he caught eyes with someone from across the floor. He was frozen by a piercing blue color staring back at him. Everything happening in the room suddenly sounded as if it was underwater.

This lasted for a few moments before Dan was inevitably swept back into reality; the stranger having had disappeared back into the crowd.

That was certainly strange.
