WHAT IF?

Back And Forth Part 2

Laurent's eyes started to water. But he managed to get it out.

"I was raped."
"WHAT? WHO DID THIS?!" Candi shouted.
"Larry." Laurent answered in a low voice.

Candi covered her mouth in utter shock.

"Come on lau. I'm going to jail for attempted murder." Candi said and headed for the door.

Laurent grabbed her arm and stopped her.

"You can't." Laurent said.
"WHY THE HELL NOT?!" Candi yelled.
"I can't have you in jail because of my problem!" Laurent replied.
"So, what? You're  rich. You can bail me out! Now let's go!" Candi yelled and made a run for the door.
"CANDICE STOP!" Laurent shouted.
"WHY?" Candi shouted with teary eyes.

Laurent became silent. Candi calmed down and said,

"Laurent, please tell me you will at least go to the police."
"I can't do that." Laurent sadly replied.
"Why?" Candi asked with folded arms.
"He's in rehab. If I report him to the cops, they will remove him from rehab. And it's back to square one for Larry. And besides I took a shower this morning. So there is no physical evidence." Laurent explained.

Candi paced back and forth and said,

"I can't deal with this. I need to get high. You wanna high with me?"
"Sure. Why not." Laurent replied.

Laurent and Candi went into the backyard and smoked weed. As Candi sat at the edge of the pool. Laurent rested his head in her lap. As they shared a blunt, they reminisced about childhood memories. Candi kissed Laurent on the forehead and told him she loved and missed him.

"Candi, I need your help. Will you help me?" Laurent whispered.
"I will on one condition. You stay away from Larry."
"I can't do that. I have to go back to him in order for this to work." Laurent said.
"Well, promise me that you will protect yourself." Candi asked.
"I promise." Laurent replied and held her hand.

Three days later, Laurent received a call from Larry. Larry informed him he was coming home in four days. Candi was driving by a grocery store when she saw Larry with a woman. Candi took pictures with her phone and drove off. When Candi got home, she did some research on the Internet. What found shocked her. She called Laurent and told him she was coming over to his house. At Laurent's house,

"Laurent, I have something to tell you. Please sit down." Candi calmly asked.

Laurent did as he was asked.

"Larry lied to you. He's not in rehab. He's been with a woman named Lylah." Candi said.
"I know who Lylah is. She's his first love. He hasn't seen her in years. Candi, I don't quite understand what you're saying." Laurent mentioned.
"Lau, Lylah has a little girl named Lilo. She looks just like Larry. According to my research, she's six years old." Candi said.
"What! But me and Larry been together for five years. He was bisexual before we started dating. OH MY GOD!! GOD DAMNIT!!" Laurent shouted and flipped over the living room table.

Candi showed Laurent the pictures. Laurent broke down and cried. Candi held Laurent in her arms and said,

"Look at me. You will be okay. Well get through this together."
"IM A FUCKING UNCLE AND HIS PUNK ASS DIDINT EVEN TELL ME! HE HAS A CHILD WITH THAT BITCH! I HATE HIM! I HATE HOW MUCH I LOVE HIM!!" Laurent shouted in rage as tears rolled down his face.
"Listen! This ain't over until it's over." Candi said as she held Laurent even tighter.
