Peter paced around his room as he thought of ways to not obtain an extra ticket.
Perhaps, he could sell it. However, he remembered the principal saying that reselling of tickets for a different or the same amount of money was prohibited and would let him incur a school offense.
He also thought of giving it away for free, but then what would he gain from that?
He didn't think it would go this way. He had managed to convince himself that if he asked Erika to homecoming then she would've immediately said yes. He was disappointed, to say the least, but he can't do anything about it now.
She was going with David and that was final. He had to get that through his thick head.
He looked at his online Facebook friends for people he could give the ticket to. He messaged girls who were online at the moment and got replies of 'I've got a boyfriend' or 'lol who are you again.' Some didn't even bother to reply to his message.
That was until he got a message notification from a girl named Michelle.
Michelle Yo my friend told me you have an extra homecoming ticket 6:49 pm
Me I do have an extra homecoming ticket. Why? 6:49 pm
Michelle Lol she told me you were giving it away 6:49 pm
Michelle Tickets r sold out so yeah 6:50 pm
Michelle Can I have it? 6:50 pm
Me Oh. I'm not giving it away for free though. :) 6:51 pm

As he read Michelle's message he got an idea. What if he took her to homecoming instead? In that way, they wouldn't spend the whole night miserably alone and he wouldn't have wasted his money on buying an extra ticket. It was like he was planning to ask her to their ball in the first place.

They ended up talking during the rest of the night, getting to know each other by asking each other's favorites, and playing games like two truths and a lie. He was able to make her type out a lowercased laugh while she made him literally laugh out loud. Erika didn't even come to mind until Michelle had asked who he would've taken in the first place. Needless to say, he had very great company and it was a good decision to give her the ticket. Now, Peter was ecstatic and really looking forward to homecoming. Not with Erika, but with his newfound friend, Michelle.
It also didn't take one week for them to become friends, just a few hours is all.
