Prologue

I sat at my window staring at the setting sun, I pulled out my sketch pad and started to draw what I saw out the window, I drew the the trees and the soft snow laying delicately on the frosted grass. A storm was starting to brew outside as the light pale white clouds grew dark. I was adding more detail to the mountainous background using my eraser to lighten my strokes. My mother walked in "honey their is a letter for you" I walked to the door where my mother stood, she handed the letter and I stared at her "open it" she said, I tore the light yellow parchment open and I pulled out two separate letters. I read the first letter

HOGWARTS SCHOOL of WITCHCRAFT and WIZARDRY

Headmaster: Albus Dumbledore

(Order of Merlin, First Class, Grand Sorc., Chf. Warlock,

Supreme Mugwump, International Confed. of Wizards)

Dear Ms. (l/n),

We are pleased to inform you that you have been accepted at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Please find enclosed a list of all necessary books and equipment.

Term begins on 1 September. We await your owl by no later than 31 July.

I raised my brow  at my mother and she smiled widely, I started to read the second letter.

HOGWARTS SCHOOL of WITCHCRAFT and WIZARDRY

UNIFORM

First-year students will require:

1. Three sets of plain work robes (black)

2. One plain pointed hat (black) for day wear

3. One pair of protective gloves (dragon hide or similar)

4. One winter cloak (black, with silver fastenings)

Please note that all pupil's clothes should carry name tags.

My mother teared up I didn't know what was happening, I was a witch. I can use magic, I can protect my Mother from danger, I knew I would like Hogwarts.

"My baby finally learning magic..." she trailed off I hugged her 

"I will be fine" I reassured her. She hugged me tighter like I would disappear is she let go. 

"My little girl is a witch..." after Dad left mysteriously when I was a year old, my Mother wouldn't let me out of her sight. I wasn't allowed outside and I was home schooled, and I didn't have many friends.

"I will take you to Diagon Ally tomorrow" she said calmly to me wiping away left over tears

"I love you Mum" I said to her

"I love you more baby." she replied.
