"Gods smods," Marcus rolled his eyes, "they are nothing. We are the ones that have the real power Kyle, we always did."

"You mean the underworld?" Kyle sighed, "Marcus you've known since day one that it's the wrong choice. And why would you bring her here? Of all places!"

I stiffened as he avoided using my name, and I watched his stare burn into Marcus. I had never seen him so angry.

"Because this is our hangout place!" Marcus smiled, "it's Jessica's now too."

"What are you talking about?" Kyle asked with a raised eyebrow.

"Jessica is apart of our team now," Marcus explained, "she's going to be our little undercover agent if we need to do anything on earth."

Kyle turned to look at me questioningly, and I tried to tell him with my eyes that this was definitely not my decision. This wasn't even a last resort let alone a choice!

"I doubt Jessica decided that," Kyle said as I breathed silently in relief.

"How did you even figure out where she was?" Marcus asked, "You've never even been here before."

"You leave messy tracks," Kyle shrugged, "it wasn't hard."

Marcus chuckled and pulled on my arm. "Come on Jessica, let's do what we were about to do before we were so rudely interupted."

I felt myself being turned away from Kyle by Marcus, when I felt Marcus being slammed to the ground by Kyle with his hand placed tightly around his neck. I was set free from Marcus's grasp and I stumbled, rushing in my haste to quickly get behind Kyle.

"You know I've been getting better at turning on my lights," Kyle said as he leaned closer to Marcus's ear, "only a flick of a wrist."

Marcus chuckled. "Fine, kill me. Just get it over and done with."

"I'm not going to kill you," Kyle said as he rolled his eyes, "just stay away from Jessica."

Marcus switched positions with Kyle in a flash and held his arm behind his back. I looked on worriedly as Marcus got the upper hand, watching as he whispered in Kyle's ear.

"I can do whatever I want," Marcus snapped, "Jessica is no longer yours. She didn't want you, so it's time to move on my friend, and let nature take its course."

Kyle was able to get out of Marcus's grip and pushed him through the air with a surprising force, making him land a few feat away from us. He suddenly grabbed my hand and before I knew it, we were behind a large rock hiding us from view.

I felt my breath shaking as Kyle held me against the rock with his hand, looking around the corner for any signs of detection.

"Kyle-"

"Shh," he interrupted, not looking at me as he did. I was slightly hurt by his abruptness, but I almost pinched myself for not expecting it. I had hurt him. Did I expect to be let back in so easily? Was I expecting to be let back in at all?

"Kyle! Jessica! Come out come out wherever you are!" We heard the voice of Marcus sing patronisingly.

"What are you doing here?" I whispered to Kyle, looking at him intently as I awaited for him to return his gaze.

"What does it look like I'm doing?" he snapped, a exaggerated sigh escaping his lips as he removed his hand from my stomach.

"But why?" I said quietly, the pain going into my voice as I thought about why he wouldn't. "Why would you try to help me now?"
