I slowly lowered my gun in shock.

"Ron?" I said disbelievingly.

He looked just as shocked to see me. "Carl?"

I looked behind him, seeing no one. "Where's Jessie, Pete, and Sam?" I asked.

Ron hesitated. "They um...." he trailed off.

I looked down, not knowing what to say. "I'm sorry," I said, looking up.

He shrugged it off. "What about you?" he asked. "Where's your group?"

I shook my head. "They're dead," I said quietly.

Ron apologized. "So you're alone?" he asked.

I hesitated, wondering wether I should tell him who I was with.

"No," I said.

He furrowed his eyebrows and I gestured for him to follow me.

We stepped onto the road. Enid was in the car playing with Judith. She turned to look at us.

When she saw another person with me, she immediately got out of the car and pointed her gun at him. She then recognized him to be her ex-boyfriend and lowered it, her eyes wide with shock.

When Ron saw that Enid was not gonna shoot him, he walked towards her, stretching his arms out in a hug.

When he got close enough to her, however, she took a step back. He seemed to get the message and gave her some space.

She then looked at me, walked over to me, and kissed me.

"You okay?" she asked and I nodded. She looked at Ron quickly then back at me. "Why is he here?"

I filled her in on our meeting and she pressed her lips together. "I don't know about this."

"Enid," I said. "He's alone. He needs us. And he could be a valuable addition to our group."

She took a moment before finally sighing in defeat and walked over to Ron.

"You planning on staying?" she asked him coldly.

Ron hesitated, as if scared on saying the wrong thing. "I-if it's okay with you and Carl."

Enid watched me as I walked up to him.

I grabbed his shoulder and squeezed it. "Welcome to the group, buddy."
