Never Mine

Chapter 18

Tyler completed my life. His love was blessing. We came closer in past few weeks. He confessed his love and we were in relationship. Meanwhile I ignored all the texts and calls from Sean. He was nothing more than a control freak. Until one day, Sean made appearance into my office without any prior notice.

"You look pale." Mean and controlling Sean was here. Oh! Did I forget to mention he was shameless too.

"I don't remember asking for your assistance." So Mr.Mean met Miss.Mean there.

"You are my patient. I hold a responsibility towards my patients even if they don't reply to my call." Oh! Trying his best to be caring, towards me. Well, I didn't give a damn about him.

"Stay away. I have everything in my life. I don't want anything." Fighting him and being mean were awesome.

"Except you don't have a life, Miss.Fighter Bug. You are planning to live happy for how many months or should I say days." His words hit the perfect spot. I forgot I have a brain tumor. It skipped out of my mind due to awesomeness of past few days with absence of headaches and nose bleeds.

"You are coming with me without uttering a single word or I am going to use my ways to make you accompany me." His threatening smile told me surrender in front of him. Fighting with him was going to create a gossip topic in office which I certainly didn't want. The fact that I was having brain tumor was well hidden from everyone. In last two months, I got closer to everyone without them suspecting me. I nodded and walked out of my office towards his car. He stopped his car at a hospital building whose name I was not able to see.

"Lets get your blood work up done." He ordered me. His arrogance and nature of bossing around was not something you see often in doctor.

"The word doctor gave me image of a humble, caring and responsible person. You are opposite of all of these. Don't you feel tired bossing so much?" No one knew me in the hospital so I chose it to be perfect time for fighting.

"No. Fear left my mind long ago and I was told to do everything possible to cure my patient. I am only doing my duty right now."

I was admitted to a hospital room. After one hour Sean came back holding some papers in his hands.

"You are anaemic. I am suspecting you have bone marrow secondaries. For now I am asking them to transfuse blood. After that you are having a MRI again." He was being bossy again. He decided everything on his own without even asking me.

After receiving two units of blood they took me to radiology room for having MRI. I was sedated so I didn't remember what happened after that. When I came out of sleep it was evening. I insisted on going back home. Somehow mean boy agreed and sent me home.

I looked at my phone after home. It contained several texts from Tyler asking me about my absence. I gave him a quick call and told I went out for shopping. He believed my story and I felt relieved.

I heard a knock at my room's door. Harris opened door and came inside.

"Casey, I need to talk to you. Its urgent." He was looking nervous and anxious.

"Tell me whats up? You look worried." I forced a smiled on my face.

"Casey I am transferring all property and business under your name. You are here for two months now since you are here. You are familiar with office and staff. The way you completed your project I can clearly see future of EMINENCE bright in your hands." He paused in between thinking something.

"Sorry, Harris I don't think it is a wise decision." I interrupted him. I was certainly not prepared for something big like this. He was planning something so big and I was completely unaware of all this.

"You are only one who can take care of this empire. I believe in you. You have potential. Accept it and free." He was hinting something suspicious in his behaviour.

"Why are backing out Harris?" He was my only living relative left. If he went going I will be all alone again.

"It is personal Casey." He was acting all weird. I needed to get all out of his mind.

"As far as I know I am only one whose issue you can call personal. Only we two are living person left of our family." I needed to hit him in right spot to know what he was trying to hide from me.

"No Casey, you are not only one I need to take care of. Casey I have a wife and two kids. I can't bring them here with me. I stayed away from them for 16 years. Now I want to live with my family for rest of my life." His words came out like blow to me.

"Harris you have wife and two children. You never bothered to tell this to me. Am I that much burdensome to you? Why the hell you stayed for these years when you don't want to be here now. You must have left earlier. I am not baby you need to spoon feed." My anger was making me say things that never ever crossed my mind.

"I owe this to my brother. I promised him to take care of you. I failed at that. Now my failure is getting converted into guilt. Casey let me go. I am not eligible for this business and you." His voice was cracking with tears threatening to fall from his eyes.

"No Harris, you are very much eligible for all this. You took care of all this for 11 years alone. You have to stay. Bring your wife and kids here. They will stay with us here." The thought of being left alone without a family again was horrible enough for me.

"Casey, I am a monster. Your parents were killed because of me." He started crying after that. His cry die down after sometime creating a never ending silence between us........................
