Part 1: The Threat

"Well what else would he get in trouble for-"

"Shut up!" she screamed. "Marcus and I are very good at hiding. We wouldn't have got caught, unlike your Kyle for instance."

"What do you want with me?" I pleaded. I could sense a threat when I heard one, and I almost wanted this one just to be over and done with.

She looked at her painted nails briefly before crossing her arms over her chest. "Okay, so this is how it's going to go down. You have to break up with Kyle."

I almost snorted but she continued before I could say anything in protest. "You have to send him back to heaven to face his punishments. Why should he be brought back from death when others don't?"

"I'm not breaking up with him." I said definitely. Did she really think she could make me do that? I could never get rid of Kyle, it just wasn't an option.

"Are you sure about that?" she asked as she slowly came around the side of my bed. "If you don't...well to put it bluntly, I will kill him. Slowly."

I gasped with horror as she smiled in triumph. "No...you can't kill him!"

"Why not?" she shrugged, "do you think you'll have trouble breaking him the news? Well let me help you."

She slowly lifted her index finger and pointed it at my mouth, beginning to speak as I furrowed my eyebrows. "Kyle, I can't do this anymore."

"Kyle, I can't do this anymore."

I slammed my hand against my mouth as my eyes practically bulged out of my head.

What was going on? Why was I saying this?

"I want you to go back to heaven. We both knew that this wouldn't last..." Melissa smiled as she these words.

"Please...stop..." I begged as I felt the words sinking into my brain.

"Kyle, it's all been an act. I thought you would have known by now...ever since the fight..."

"Please!" I shouted at her, "Stop it!"

She continued.

"I felt guilty," she said louder, pointing her finger harder at me, "that you had revealed yourself to me and fought for me...when I was never really...interested..."

I felt a tear threatening to roll down my cheek as I pictured Kyle inside my head. I was going to have to eventually say this to him, and I didn't even know how. She had somehow engraved the words into my mouth, and had some sort of power over me that I couldn't stop.

"And I never have, or ever will-"

"Don't," I sobbed. I knew the next words that would flow through Melissa's freshly painted lips.

"Love you."

I felt the tears flow freely down my face as the words went to my brain, not going away no matter how hard I tried. That was it. I had to do it now even if I protested...I was going to lose him, I was going to lose Kyle and hurt him while doing so.

"There. All fixed," Melissa smiled as she clapped her hands together.

"Why...why would you do this?" I sobbed.

"I told you, I don't want Marcus to keep hiding anymore. I want him to be able to be out in the open."

"That will never happen," I snapped, "even if you killed Kyle. You would just make things worse for yourself."

She rolled her eyes. "I'm giving you tomorrow Jessica, to do this little task for me. Or even better...today." She smiled evilly as she motioned her hand to the light pouring into the room through the window.

"Oh, and every time you try and stop the spell, you'll get a...well, let's just say a little surprise." She smirked. "Have fun."

She said those words and in the next second, she was gone. I didn't have any clue what she was talking about, and she didn't give me much time to think, but it didn't matter. All I knew was that I was going to have to break up with Kyle today...and not just him, but his heart too. I was pretty sure it was going to break me as well.

"Tick Tock," the voice of Melissa whispered again, and I felt a shiver of fear and anger go up my spine. I saw a faint figure of her standing beside my bedroom door, almost taunting me. She looked like Kyle when he had been a ghost, very faded and slightly see-through, which created more anger inside of me.

"Leave me alone!" I screamed and threw a pillow at her, even though I knew it wouldn't work. It went right through her like I expected, and hit the door of the room with a loud bang before the figure disappeared completely.

"I'll keep an eye on you today," she hissed from somewhere in the room."We don't want anyone finding out about this now, do we?"

That meant she would watch me all day...watch all my actions...my every move...

I couldn't even talk to Zach for help. Or Kyle. Definitely not Kyle. Lisa and Holly would be no good, since they didn't even know about heaven and gods and ghosts...

Which left me with me. And what could I do? Nothing. I could do absolutely nothing. It meant I had to do as Melissa wanted, and send Kyle back to heaven wither I liked it or not.

I was saving him...he just didn't know it. Yet.
