Cassiopeia

I have once loved from afar.

It all started with a small spark,

Until it became a flame,

and started a fire.

I let him bask in the glory of my blaze,

For he looked beautiful bathed in the light.

He was so perfectly ethereal, I thought

I could succumb to this fire forever.

But the moment's fleeting,

My fire could no longer follow his pace,

I burned a little more, till it burned my skin,

scorching, consuming, all of me, to pieces.

If you ever wonder if a star dies,

I do too. I just want to expend this fire faster

till it all ignites and fall to the earth's cold ground.

If you ever wonder who I am,

you just need to look up,

I am the one burning up in the northern sky.
