Luzon's relationship with Spain is similar to my relationship with America; sometimes we're friends with that specific country, sometimes we feel like we still hate them.
Luzon and I would often argue about who's the better colonizer.

There were more deaths of Filipinos in the Philippine-American War than there were in the whole 3 centuries of having Spain colonize us. (Hetalia-Philippines's admin told me.)
Plus, America lied to us! I don't even have the need to call him "Kuya"! I think... he only came to us in the first place for the resources we have!
Lots of Filipinos these days might have been 'Americanized', but mostly are still influenced by the Spaniards. We have the Spanish accent, the Spanish looks, the Spanish names, the Spanish culture, the Spanish food, the Spanish blood, the Spanish-influenced houses....
