INDRA POV:
" Indra " you hear Ayla, one of the warriors you have been training in Lexa's absence call from just outside your tent.
" Enter " you shout not looking up from the maps that lay on the table in front of you, you've been sneaking out when you can to search for any sign of Lexa or the sky girl and plotting your empty findings on this wasted sheet, you haven't heard from either of them since they left and no one has seen any sign of either of them, and you'd be lying if you said it wasn't slowly eating away at you.
" Skaikru spotted outside the Ton DC border " she breathes, obviously out of breath after running from her guard post. You freeze in place, this could either be what you've been waiting for or they could come with grave news. " shall I send warriors to see what they want? " she asks after you haven't made any move to speak or make these arrangements yourself.
" No, I will greet them " you say slowly pushing away from the table.
" Are you sure we shouldn't send anyone to alert Heda? " she asks. After Lexa had left you had told the warriors that she had urgent matters to attend to in Polis and had slipped out through the night. No one could know she went alone into the wilderness, risking her life to save a girl and a member of Skaikru. They would see her as nothing but a week girl, she would lose the respect of her warriors maybe even lose control of the coalition leading the clans into a downward spiral of violence for control, which would no doubt lead to another war, you could not let that happen.
" No, " you panic " I will handle them myself ".
After sending Ayla back to her post, you rush out the front gates of Ton DC and greet the guard who all look ready to launch an attack, ordering them to stand down and stay put at their posts. You need to deal with this quietly, whatever this is. Quickly jumping onto the nearest horse you, gallop down to the warning signs that alert visitors to Ton DC's presence, and can already see the approaching horses.
Only two horses, not an attack, on the first horse you see a familiar face, Marcus, peace keeper of the skaikru and on the other Clarke, commander of death, but where is Lexa. Your heart drops and you feel an emptiness taking over.
She's not here.
" We're here " you hear,
Lexa,
Your eyes light up as you realise she is here, alive. Rushing forward you greet the trio unable to keep a smile from forming on your face.
You thought you'd lost her, she'd been gone so long, you had tried so hard to keep those kinds of thoughts away but lying in your tent alone at night, they haunted your thoughts and clouded your visions.
But she's here.
" Lexa " You greet, running your hand along her fore arm, she's not in the clothes she left in, no armour, just the small shell of the girl you raised. They look like skaikru clothing and it's only now that you realise how she's sitting, fully supported by Clarke, and it's then that you spot a patch of blood starting to soak through back of the unfamiliar garment.
" You're hurt " you state, a tinge of fear clear in your voice despite your hardest efforts to keep it at bay.
" I am fine Indra " the brunette yawns tiredly, her head falling back to lay on Clarke's shoulder " Thanks to Clarke and Marcus, they saved my life " she says and you can here the smile on her lips.
" Thank you " you say quietly to Clarke knowing that you and Lexa will talk more later once she can stay awake long enough for a conversation. You pull the reigns of your horse so that you are facing the opposite way and can now ride with the group.
" What? " she asks keeping her voice low, trying to not wake the now sleeping Lexa.
" For bringing her back ".
Silently she nods her head, you reach out to shake her arm, but when she realises what you are trying to do her cheeks turn a deep red and she shoots you an apologetic look, your glance moves down to find her hand entwined with Lexa at her waist. Your smile lasts a little longer knowing the two are now on better terms, whether Lexa has told Clarke the whole truth yet is up to debate and you by no means are going to force the process at all, she will tell her in her own time you know that. Satisfied with the pair you turn your attention to Marcus who rides off to your side.
" Marcus " you greet with a nod, the smile still not having left your face.
" It's good to see you again Indra " he greets, reaching his arm out, you take it within seconds.
" What happened? " you ask, One look from him and you can tell the answer will take longer than we have in this short ride to the gates of Ton DC.
