8 years later

The black car slowly drove through the forest, its driver's eyes covered by sunglasses. Three patrol wolves followed closely behind, their tails wagging in excitement.

The woman pulled into a driveway and turned off the car, as she stepped out the wolves barked and jumped on her.

"Well, hello to you too!" She laughed.

The wolves got off and let her get up before rubbing their heads on her. She chuckled, she sighed when she looked at her house.

"How have they been?" She asked the wolves.

A grey one barked happily, she sighed in relief. "Good."

She closed the car door, her steps were slow, but she soon found herself opening the front door. She closed the door quietly, her blue eyes focused on the newly decorated house.

"Who's there?" A woman's voice sounded.

She stayed quiet and smiled as the other woman ran down the hall. When she saw her mother at the top of the stairs, she smiled more.

"Hey, mom." She said softly.

Her mother clapped her hand over her mouth, "Lila?"

"Who else would it be?"

The brown eyed woman sprinted down the stairs and pulled her daughter into a hug. She kissed her on the forehead before studying her.

"I thought you decided to never return to the pack?" Her mother asked.

Lila sighed, "I was planning on joining the Raven pack, you know, because of who I was going to chose as my mate. But...I didn't like how the alpha ran things. So, I wanted to come back here, but my soon to be mate decided against it. Stating that our pack was worthless."

"So, you left anyway?"

"Yeah, I'll find someone else to be my mate. I mean, I do have centuried to choose. After all, we are immortal."

Her mother chuckled, "That we are."

"Whatever happened to the moon goddess choosing our mates? Making a bond and all?" Lila sighed.

"Everyone complained about it not being true love. So, she stopped and would just guide us to the right one."

Lila frowned, "Clearly, she guided me to the wrong one."

"No, she's still guiding you to the right one. He was just a...bump in the road." Her mother replied.

Lila hummed her response as she took a seat in the kitchen. When her eyes landed on a picture, she bit her lip.

"How is he?" She asked quietly.

Her mother swallowed, "She hurt him pretty bad. Luckily, she's gone now. Your father and uncle dragged her to the dungeons. But...he's...not the same."

"How so?"

"See for yourself."

Lila shook her head, "I'm not going to his house."

"Why not? Did you leave on a bad note?"

"No, but-

"Then go. Maybe you can help him, we already tried."
