"the mistress of keys"

Sometimes I need some peace and quiet
But you are there sitting in the light
To play the same old tune of blight

You sing songs that they won't hear
Over and over until the words feel
Like they're engraved into the back of my left ear

Even when I fight the noise you make
I drown your notes and light your words to bake
In my lungs; to heat up and keep me awake

In doing this you used me and consumed me
As a vessel, a space never left empty
To live a full life in A minor, B flat, and E

But don't you see the song won't end on C
Cause you broke a C, an E, and G
And most of the other keys inbetween

Sometimes I need some peace and quiet
But you are there sitting in the light
To play the same old tune of blight

You sing songs that they won't hear
Over and over until the words feel
Like they're engraved into the back of my left ear
