I zipped up my school sweat jacket which was black and accented with blue over my white blouse. My checkered blue and white skirt underneath came halfway to my knees. I didn't like exposing myself so much so I threw on white leggings that went into my black combat boots.

I walked over to the mirror and began to brush my long black hair, it had a gentle wave as it cascaded all the way down to my hips. I didn't like makeup very much since my blue eyes seemed to pop without it, so I never bothered with the stuff. Next I pulled my trainer belt through the loops of my skirt, securing it tightly to my small figure. I walked over to my nightstand and pulled out my mother's flute, unwrapping it from the red silky cloth. I fastened it to my belt so I would have it with me in case I needed It.

I grabbed my powder blue backpack and walked through the huge mansion until I made it to the kitchen. My aunt had left some biscuits on the stove with a note on the counter, It read

.............................................................................................................................

I needed to get some things done early at work. If you're hungry, I left you some biscuits. Don't be late to school.

-Love Aunty Vergo

I grabbed a biscuit and headed off to school. It was a short walk since the mansion was right next to the school, I got there a half hour early. At first I sat at a bench reading, but got fidgety. There was no one on the track so I decided to go for a jog! I actually had just beat the girls record for the mile a couple of days ago, so it would help me stay in shape for when we do finals.

On my second lap, a boy with snowy white hair jogged up beside me. He looked at me with his scarlet eyes and began to jog ahead of me smirking. Was he trying to race me? I frowned and ran past him. We kept running back and forth for a while but I refused to lose.

We had another 5 minutes before the bell rang so I told him, "The next lap will decide the winner." He smiled, and we bolted. People arriving from their buses began to bet on the winner, which would obviously be me! We were running towards the home stretch, but he was a couple feet ahead of me.

I could not lose, I would not lose against this arrogant fool! The world suddenly seemed to glow blue again, this creeped me out ever since that day, however I was running so fast I didn't care. I caught up to him and ran past him, winning. My vision returned to normal, however It left me exhausted and dizzy at the end.

The white haired boy looked at my eyes curiously, I frowned and went to grab my book bag, but he grabbed my arm. He whispered to me, "How did you do that?" Honestly, I didn't know so I decided to brush it off as no big deal. I waved my hands in the air and said, "ahh well I had just beat the record the other day, so it should come as no surprise. Anyway I need to get to class." I headed to the gate to grab my bag. In the distance I heard the cheers of some as they won their bets and the groans of others as they lost theirs .

I sighed thinking about how he might have been a great friend, but their is no need for friends. I remembered that getting close to people only gets you hurt and that there's no need for friends and family. Besides, half the people in my school can't hold a conversation for 5 seconds without talking about their boring dating lives. I'd rather have an intellectual conversation about a book i'm reading, or a show I'm watching. It didn't really matter though, because nobody wanted to talk to me anyway. I was often quite mean as I was sarcastic at times and brutally honest.

The whole way to biology I got the usual glares, however I kept running to my biology class without a second to spare. We received our grades back and I aced it as usual. I already knew everything we were being taught as I was homeschooled by my mother. The rest of my classes, I day dreamed and did not pay the least bit of attention to until I got to my pokemon breeding class.

Anything that has to do with pokemon, is new and exciting for me. My teacher Ms. Lyra cleared her voice and announced to the class, "Your senior projects start today! You all will be given an eevee to care for this week! At the end of the week, your eevee will be evaluated through examination and tested in battle. If you fail this project, you will fail this class which is needed to graduate! The highest scorer is allowed to keep their eevee. Good LUCK!"

Everyone began freaking out about failing. Some were excited about getting pokemon. I was the only one who was terrified!!! The last time I was around a pokemon, it was a negative experience... however I was still excited!

The teacher shouted, "LET THEM IN!!!" 20 or so eevees bounded into the room hopping around and jumping on the tables to join a partner. Everyone looked at their eevees with aww. Some of the girls were even snuggling them to death. I looked around as everyone had an eevee except me! I raised my hand and said "Where's Mine?"

The man who had released them from their pokeballs scratched his chin and said "I counted exactly 23! I have no idea? The teacher began shouting at him "You're supposed to be watching them. How could you lose one! You idiotic bas....". I cut in and said "May I look for it?" The teacher looked at me and nodded.

I bolted out the door looking around. I saw a little brown and white tail turning a corner and followed. I chased it all the way outside. The sun hit me and blinded me for a second, however it felt nice as the it warmed me up from the cold breezes. I was still quite cold though as I left my coat inside and was only wearing my white blouse. Im soooooo glad I wore the leggings in this weather.

I ran towards the forest as eevee jumped through some bushes. As I pushed the bushes aside I saw eevee trapped in some vines. I sighed and went help the poor pokemon out when it suddenly got loose! I dove for the pokemon grabbing onto it and wrapping it in my arms. The world seemed to turn blue again like it did with that purple and white pokemon, as well as on the track today. These episodes kept happening far too frequent for my taste.

As I pushed myself up and leaned onto a tree the pokemon in my arms began to cry. More than that though I felt the sadness and dread in the pokemon growing. Why did it run in the first place? Something felt off. I decided to search deeper into the sadness in the pokemon's heart. All the sudden, I was in a different place.... perhaps even a different time?

I saw eevee on the ground being abused by some mean green haired boy. I felt every kick as pain rippled through my body. The boy shouted "Why does the academy even give us weak pokemon like you. You're just a waste of time. You won't learn any other attacks accept tackle and sand attack! Your so lame!" He began to kick the poor eevee again shattering its heart with every kick. I cried out feeling the pain again as the flashback ended and vision returned to normal.

I looked down at eevee who looked at me teary eyed knowing what I saw. I pulled eevee into a warm embrace. I whispered to the little pokemon... "I will never ever let any harm come to you. I know what it's like to shatter inside... To be broken. I put up walls around me so it wouldn't happen again, while you ran away, to solve your problems. If you run to me then perhaps I will lower my walls for you. How does that sound?" The eevee in my arms looked into my eyes with a determined expression and nodded.

I smiled a real smile, which I hadn't done since the day my mother died. Perhaps lowering my guarded facade once in awhile isn't a bad thing.
