Chapter 6: The Alchemy Exam

"You guys are so young, you needn't worry about taking the exam this year."

"No. I don't care what the odds are, I don't care how long the path is, I'm going to take this test. I don't make excuses." Ed is completely serious, no hesitation in his voice.

"Ahhhh. Bigger brother isn't eating his dinner. That won't due, you have to eat to get grown up." Nina hands a piece of bread to Al. I giggle but nobody notices, of course they wouldn't though. My lack of voice sucks sometimes, scratch that, all the time.

Ed and Al stay at Tucker's and I go home. And by home, I mean to Hughes and Gracia's, it's late but Hughes is just getting home from work. I have my own room and I always help set up the baby's room. I'm so excited for the baby to be born, it'll be like having a little tiny sister.

'Goodnight guys.' I sign at them then hug the two goodnight and Hughes says it back but Gracia comes with me to my room.

"How was your day? Did you learn a lot?"

'Yeah, it was a pretty good day actually. I'm exhausted though.' I yawn.

"Get some sleep than." she hugs me, I hug back.

I put my head on her stomach and listen to the baby's heartbeat and she smiles. 'Wake me up tomorrow morning. I'll help make breakfast.' I sign and we smile at each other and she leaves my room. I instantly fall asleep.

A couple months later:
Edward POV:
I hear the clock bell ding and I get up.

"It's that late already?"

"Yo, Alphonse! Where are you?" I hear a dog bark outside and I go to see what's up. And there's snow.

"Hey Ed!" Al says.

"We made angels, little big brother!" Nina says to me.

We all play in the snow making snowmen, snow angels and having snowball fights. It was really fun.

"I wish you could stay... I mean after you pass the test. It gets lonely with just dad."

I draw a transmutation circle in the snow and then Nina walks up.

"What are you drawing little big brother?"

"A transmutation circle, you see if I have a wish it makes it come true." I say.

I make her a little flower crown.

"You made me magic flowers!" she shouts happily.

"Decent work." Hughes says while walking up to us.

"I came for you Ed. Gotta keep you from studying through your birthday, you know." Hughes says and smiles.

"How'd you know that? I haven't told anyone yet." I say, suprised.

"Well first of all, I'm in the investigations department and second of all, its Van's birthday too. You're her twin, right? So it only makes sense that you'd have the same birthday."

Nina looked sad because she thought she couldn't go.

"Well don't look sad, you're all coming." all of our faces light up.

"I can't throw a birthday dinner and not invite their friends, right?" Hughes smiles. "Van is at home waiting, lets go."

Van POV:
"Welcome kids." Gracia says while everyone walks through the door. I smile when I see them.
