CHAPTER TWO: IT'S A DATE!

Trip Mackintosh is an actor on an American television show. Lilly’s obsessed with the show that he’s on; she’s like in love with him. He had chestnut brown hair with a quiff at the front. He has cute little freckles on his cheeks, that you can only see when you’re this close to him, I guess they are always covered in make up when he acts. He’s wearing a purple top, black skinny jeans and a leather jacket and fifteen like me. I guess he’s a little cute, but not drop dead gorgeous as Lilly describes him.

“No, it was my fault, and yeah I’m fine, are you alright?” I ask him.

“Yeah, I’m fine.” I realize that my phone isn’t in my hand anymore.

“I’m guessing this is yours he says handing me my phone.

“Yeah, thanks.” I say taking my phone.

“Well, I’m Trip.” He says holding out his hand.

“Arrabella, but everyone calls me A.” we shake hands.

“Cool accent.” He says with a smile.

I let out a little laugh and say “Likewise.”

“Do you want to walk for a little?” he asks me.

“Sure.” I say. We walk along the deck and I finally speak. “So what are you doing in Australia?”

“I’m here on a holiday.” He tells me.

“What so you come to Australia for three days, go on a cruise and fly back to America?” I say between giggles. He starts smiling which for some reason makes me smile.

“You didn’t let me finish. I’m here on a holiday, then, I’m staying with my cousins until Christmas, then back to California I go.”

“That’s cool, where do your cousins live?” I ask him.

“South West Sydney.” He says

“So do I.”  I say.

 “Oh, he says. “Awesome!”

“Maybe while you’re staying with them, we could hang out.” I say loosely, trying to make sure that he doesn’t read too much into it.

“Or we can hang out right now?” he asks me. I’m a little bit surprised by his proposal. I usually like being alone, just take in everything from afar. But, something about him makes me think I can trust him.

“Alright then.” I say. He starts to smile, so I guess I said something right.

“Do you want to go get a smoothie?” he asks me.

“Sounds perfect.” We walk to the smoothie bar and order a smoothie. He orders a strawberry and I order a mango. After our smoothies arrive, we grab a table and sit down. “So Mr. Big-Shot-TV-Star, what’s California like?”

“Sunny.” He says. I let out a little laugh. “It’s alright, but to be completely honest, it’s really not worth the hype.”

“Really? I’ve always wanted to go.” I start to explain to him about how I want to go when I’m a famous author and make movies out of my books.

“Wow, that’s awesome!” he says to me.

“Thanks, I’ve always wanted to go to America, meet all the stars.”

“Yeah, it’s pretty awesome meeting celebrities. That’s the only thing about America that actually is worth the hype.” We both start laughing; when we stop I check my phone and realize it’s almost twelve.

“What’s the matter?” he asks me.

“I have to go meet my family for lunch, but it was really fun hanging out with you.” I pick up my backpack and put it over my shoulder. When I started to walk away, I felt a hand on my shoulder, I turn around to find Trip right behind me.

“Wait, when can I see you again?” he asks me.

“Maybe we could meet up after lunch?” I ask him.

“It’s a date.” He says, as I turn around and walk back to the cabin. God damn, do I feel a blush coming on, it better not be!
