Trevor walks into the house through the sliding glass door, looking relieved, yet sad. I walk over to him, asking quietly, "Do you think she's going to be okay?"

"Yes," he replies. "She just said she'd like some time alone." I nod.

"All right guys, it's time to go!" Mrs. Brennan shouts. "We have more deliveries to make."

Anna and Sasha, at the same time, let out a heartfelt, "Aw." Sasha adds, "But..."

"You'll see Anna next week, Sasha," her mother says.

"Can I pleeease sleep over? We don't have anything to do tomorrow!"

"Sasha Julie Brennan! You don't invite yourself-"

"Actually," Miss Cassidy begins, "that sounds like a wonderful idea, if it's okay with you, of course, Susan."

"It's all right with me if it's all right with you!" Mrs. Brennan replies. Miss Cassidy turns to Sasha and Anna as she taps her fingers on the kitchen bar counter, smiling brightly. The girls hop to their feet, jump up and down, then high-five each other.

"Yay!" they shout in unison. Sasha comes to give her mother a tight hug, saying, "Thanks Mommy," and "Thanks Miss Cassidy," before running off with Anna.

     Sleepover...

     Holly...

I suddenly remember the sleepover I had with Holly the very night before I left. I miss my best friend. I can't wait to talk with her and tell her all about Trevor...

I glance over at him and immediately feel my face flush. He's looking right into my eyes. A beautiful smile crosses his face, and I can't help returning it.

"Okay the rest of you, let's go!" Mr. Brennan says, ushering us out the door.

We go out into the bright sunlight, heading toward the truck. I suddenly feel uncomfortable, wondering if Elena can see us. I might just stay at the house tomorrow when Sasha is being picked up, and the following days they come here to drop the orders off. I don't want to risk seeing her.

It's not that I don't like her. I like her fine. It's just that, after what happened... what she saw, how could I feel comfortable around her? Especially because I know how she feels about Trevor.

Once we're seated in the truck with our seatbelts on, Mr. Brennan starts the engine. Not even the heavy, distinct sound of the diesel engine purring to life drowns out Emily's obnoxious whisper to Trevor.

"I saw you staring at Olivia."

Turning to her, he replies, "Emily, mind your business. You don't want to get in any more trouble than you already are."

A triumphant smile comes to my face as I turn my head to look out my window.

~*~

It has been exactly two weeks since I arrived in the States.

At the Brennan home, we're sitting around the massive dark wooden coffee table eating cute little triangular sandwiches and drinking iced tea made with green tea. Breaking the silence, Mrs. Brennan announces that she has a huge announcement to make.

We all listen intently. It seems that she is intentionally stalling, and it makes us more anxious to know what it is.

"Mommyyy! What is it?!" Sasha asks, bouncing impatiently as she stares up at her mother.

"There will be a new addition to the Brennan family."
