HISTORY CLASS WITH A MURDERER WAS one thing. But without Liam, the only person in the class strong enough to even have a chance against Tracy, made me nervous.

Hesitantly, I took the seat next to her. As Mr. Yukimura took role, I carefully observed Tracy - she continued to stare straight ahead, breathing heavily and tightly gripping her chair.

Mason, who was sitting across the room, shot me a questioning glance. I jerked my head towards Tracy and shrugged.

"Dunbar." Me Yukimura called out. "Liam Dunbar?"

Silence.

"Has anyone here seen Liam Dunbar today?"

Mason cleared his throat. "Uh, he's sick." Mason said quickly. "He texted me this morning."

"Very well," Mr. Yukimura said with a curt nod.

As Mr. Yukimura continued taking roll, I felt my phone buzz in my pocket. As inconspicuously as I could, I took it out and read what was on the screen.

From: Liam🐺💖
me and Scott are coming soon, he's stuck in ap bio

Biting my lip, I quickly typed a reply.

To: Liam🐺💖
k pls hurry

"Stilinski." Mr. Yukimura's voice rang out.

I quickly stuffed my phone back into my pocket. "Here." I said loudly.

Eventually, Mr. Yukimura finished with attendance. As he started the lesson, I heard a soft voice from behind me. "Hey, are you okay? Are you even supposed to be in this class?"

I shifted how I was sitting so I could face the source of the voice. It was Bubblegum Bitch - excuse me, Hayden, Liam's "vengeful" friend from sixth grade. She was gaping at Tracy with a concerned look on her face.

I opened my mouth to say something when suddenly, a loud ringing noise pierced my eardrums. The fire alarm. At once, every rushed to get out of their seats and towards the door.

"No rushing, please." Mr. Yukimura said calmly. "I'm sure this is just a drill."

Running my hand through my hair, I turned my attention back to Hayden and Tracy. Hayden's eyes met mine, and an unspoken understanding was set - help Tracy.
