Chapter Five: Redstone Heist, part two

Start from the beginning

He tilted his head to the side, crossing his arms over his chest. "Are you being serious right now?"

Cleo shrugged, keeping the smile on her face. "I really don't have anything better to do, and a little mischief could be fun."

"We could get into a lot of trouble ..."

"Running away's a lot more fun when you have someone to run with."

At this, Vechs grinned slightly, nodding his head slowly. "Alright, Cleo. Let's do this."

Cleo's smile widened. This was going to be fun. "Alright, where were we headed again?"

"Science lab. I need some redstone."

Redstone? That was used for mechanics, if Cleo remembered correctly. What would this guy be needing redstone for? That was probably another question for another time. Right now, they needed to start moving. "Alright. I think I remember where that is from the school map. And the school should probably still be unlocked, with the janitors cleaning. Let's go."

---------------------------------------------------

Vechs squinted at the door in front of him, straining to read the words inscribed on the plaque set upon it. The light over here was lousy and dim, although lighter than it was in the dorm building. It was probably for the best, though. It decreased the chances of anyone spotting them.

"Well, this is the science lab." He inclined his head to glance at Cleo. "You ready?"

"As I'll ever be," she responded, her voice cool. Vechs had to admit he was impressed. This girl had guts. He turned his gaze back to the door, shoving his shades farther up on his nose. He reached forward and twisted the door handle, pushing to open it.

Nothing happened.

Vechs tried harder, but to no avail. He cursed quietly. "It must be locked." He felt a small hand on his arm, pushing him to the side.

"Let me try."

He crossed his arms over his chest, watching impatiently as Cleo tugged and twisted at the door knob. After a few moments, he hissed, "It's no use. We should go back." She ignored him, much to his chagrin, and took a step back, looking around as if searching for another way in. "Are you even listening to me?"

"Wait, look."

Vechs' gaze followed hers, lighting upon the window above the door, which happened to be slightly ajar.

"There's our way in."

Vechs quirked an eyebrow at her. "Do you really expect me to lift you up there?"

"Do you want your redstone?"

"Yeah..."

"Then, yes. Get lifting."

Without another word, Vechs bent down, folding his fingers together as a cradle and holding them out toward her. As he did so, his shades slipped down his nose. He itched to fix them, but could do nothing as Cleo placed her right foot in his hands. She weighed less than he had expected. He heaved upward in one smooth motion and felt her weight slacken as she grabbed hold of the window's frame above and pulled herself through.

At the same moment that Vechs pushed his glasses back onto his nose, he heard a light thump come from the other side of the door. The door handle twisted, and the door swung open to reveal a grinning Cleo. Her triumph didn't last long, however. At that moment, an alarm began to shriek.

Vechs' eyes widened behind his shades and he muttered a word Cleo's parents wouldn't have approved of. Shoving past her, he charged into the lab, eyes scanning the room until they found what he was searching for- a rack of redstone. He shoved his hand into the rack, grabbing up chunks of the stone and shoving them into his bag, all too aware that the headmaster, or possibly, police, could be there any minute.

When his bag was full, he spun around and grabbed Cleo's arm, tugging her out the door. He didn't stop to look at the expression on her face as he sped into a sprint down the hallway. Cleo's hand automatically slipped into his as they raced toward the stairwell that led to the first floor.

Shouts could now be heard ringing out behind them. They had been discovered.

"Faster!" Vechs hissed through his teeth, picking up the pace. Cleo was suddenly at his side, matching his strides. He stretched out his arm and shoved the door to the stairway aside, well aware of the pounding feet behind them and the pounding of his own heart.

They were down the stairs and out the side door in seconds, dashing across the field that separated the school from the dorms. He threw open the dorm door and pulled Cleo inside, gasping for breath as it closed after them.

"I think we lost them ..." she sounded just as breathless as he felt.

Despite the events that had just occurred, Vechs felt the sudden urge to laugh. He leaned against the wall and couldn't keep from smiling, letting out a chuckle. "Holy. Crap."

Cleo leaned against the wall as well, shoulder to shoulder with him, still holding his hand. "I-I ... Well, that just happened."

Vechs turned his head to look at her, and she looked back. They both immediately dissolved into giggles. Vechs decided then and there that he liked this Cleo girl very much.

((Authors' note:

We are procrastination monsters from the planet Molasses, and we are very sorry for keeping you all waiting for so long. We should have been more responsible. We'll try to stay on top of things from now on- although we're both starting school soon, and that could complicate things...

Thank you so much for your patience and continued support of Tekkit High. Without you, it would not exist.

ALSO.

If any of you have ideas for things you'd like to see in upcoming chapters, feel free to drop us a comment here.

Can't guarantee we'll use them, but you never know!

As a last parting note, we'd like to explain that these characters are in fact based upon their YouTubers, but they are also roleplay characters. If you notice one of them seemingly acting out of character, we'd just like to remind you that we took these characters and added some tweaks to them, to make them our own, in a sense. Not all ships in this story are canon in real life, but in our RP they are.

Again, thanks for everything.

Until the next chapter,
