Smiling Games «Nagisa Shiota»

"This is so boring..." Karma, the boy who was seating one seat away from you, grunted. "I should've stayed home."

Koro-sensei perked up and all the other students turned to Karma who yawned and stretched his arms up in the air. "What did you just say, Karma-kun?" Koro-sensei narrowed his eyes at Karma. Well, tried to, at least. His eyes were as little as beads, and they looked like closed now at the moment. You couldn't help but stifle a laugh.

"I told you, it's boring. I'm going home." Koro-sensei couldn't do anything but watch Karma leave. He sighed before shaking his head and returning to the blackboard.

For some reason, you locked gazes with Nagisa. You smiled at him and he did the same to you. How adorable. You thought, giggling inside your head. For you, Nagisa was a little boy who looked like a girl with his hairstyle. It was actually unbelievable that he's in fact a boy.

"Okay, who wants to try and read the next paragraph?" Koro-sensei questioned. The class went by without a hitch.

Then lunch time.

You ate your lunch all alone. It didn't bother you at all. Probably everyone had asked you to have your lunch with them, but you all rejected them since you needed some time alone.

Then the boy named Nagisa came.

"Why are you eating your lunch all by yourself?" He queried, peering over at you. You only shrugged at him, smiling. "You know, you should eat with us."

"Almost everybody asked me to do so, even Koro-sensei. I have all given them a no."

"Is that a way of saying no to me?" Nagisa had frowned deeply which got you all panicky. Oh no, you didn't mean to upset him.

You shook your head quickly. "Yes! I... I mean no... I don't know actually. I never really ate lunches with somebody but that doesn't mean that I'm a loner if that's what you think and I'm not saying no."

Nagisa's eyes glimmered in delight and he beamed at you. You couldn't help but just go along with him. "Really?"

"Really. Now come on. Who are you eating with?"

He smiled at you which made your heart flutter and began telling you all about Kayano and Karma who wasn't here at the moment because he wanted to skip classes.

"That's great!" Kayano nodded enthusiastically after Nagisa had told her all about you having lunch with them.

"Kayano-chan! Come here for a sec! Our project in Science!" Yada called out.

"Coming!" She turned to you and Nagisa. "Sorry guys, it looks like something came up with our project. I'll see you later! Enjoy!"

A realization dawned upon you as Kayano ran towards Yada. You and Nagisa were all alone. This is gonna be awkward.

"So..." The two of you drawled in unison. Yet again, a smile crept on both of your faces. Awkward smile, to be exact.

"This is an uncomfortable aura." You muttered, taking a bite out of your bento. "At least try to make a small talk so this isn't gonna end awkwardly."

"Okay." Then you became engaged into a conversation with Nagisa, laughing about random things. You found out that his mother wanted him to look like a girl.

Lunch time ended with the both of you being close with each other. As you returned to the classroom with Nagisa, Isogai cleared his throat as everybody glanced at him.

"Class 3E dismissed. Early dismissal because something came up." Bitch-sensei announced as all of you stood up to gather your things.

"Yes! Isn't that news the best?" Mimura jumped up, grinning. "Hey, (y/n). Are you going home alone again? Why don't you come with us?"

You shook your head, chuckling. "Nah, I'm good. Besides, my house is just below this mountain." Just as you said that, Nagisa dragged you outside of your classroom. "Uh, Nagisa-kun, are you okay? Do we need to talk about something?"

Nagisa laughed. "No, I just want to walk home with you." He grinned.

"Oh, I see." You drawled, smiling. "You know, I've been smiling a lot today. My cheeks are swollen." You frowned, looking deep in thought as you massaged your cheeks.

"Why, don't you want to?" Nagisa seemed a bit more cheerful today, with him smiling from ear to ear.

You couldn't help but chortle. "No, it's just weird." You mumbled, smiling at him.

The smiling game continued awkwardly until you reached your house.

"So, see you tomorrow?" Nagisa inquired, tilting his head to the side. He was so adorable. If only you could pinch his cheeks.

"Uh, yeah."

"Thanks for coming home with me." He waved and turned away from you when you called him out again. "Yeah?"

"I'd like to say... I like you very much, and I hope we'd still be friends." Silence dawned over the two of you. You were so scared about his reaction. You haven't told him about this but you held feelings for him for a long while now.

What shocked you was that he smiled at you. He freaking smiled at you. "Yeah. I hope so too."

You watched his retreating figure as one thing registered in your mind: he didn't think of it as a confession. His smile imprinted in your mind, telling you that for him, it was a "friendly" like. You know, as if saying you liked being friends with him or you like him as a friend.

So to sum it up, he was dense.

But at least you still have the chance to confess again, much readier next time right?
