"Damn it, Sky! Quit talking about your best friend! How come you never talk about yourself? You know more about me than I'll ever know about you! Why don't you just talk to me about you for a change?"
I took a step backwards, only for him to take a step forwards. I stepped back again, and again, but he just kept coming forward. Literally and metaphorically.
"Listen, I know I don't talk about myself, but I thought if I told you stories about her, it could make you want to talk to her. You guys would be perfect for each other! You could make her happy and that's what she needs right now." I said softly. This was not, like not with a capital N, how this is supposed to go.
"Sky your best friend is amazing, but she isn't the only one who needs to be loved. She isn't the only one who needs to be happy. Don't you think you need that too? Don't lie to me and tell me you're happy, I can clearly see otherwise. I- I could help you, but only if you let me in."
"No," I answered harshly, "I don't deserve any of it. She's always been the better one, the one who deserves the world, not me."
"What makes you think that you aren't worth as much as her?"
"Because I don't deserve it! I don't deserve any of it! Trust me when I say that!" My voice was dangerously close to breaking.
"Tell me. Tell me why you think you don't deserve love. Maybe I could help you, I just need you to trust me."
My breathing was coming out in short pants. I couldn't tell him. Not him, not anyone. I won't make the same mistake twice.
"But I don't trust you." I whispered.
Hurt flitted across his handsome features as silence filled the room, sliding into every corner deafening us. "Okay then, I guess I'd better get going. Wouldn't want to be late for my date with your friend. At least she'll actually talk to me. Maybe you were right, you don't deserve anything, maybe if you at least tried you would, but you don't. You're a waste of breath Sky."
It's funny how just a tiny sentence can hurt so much, like his did. Yet here he was, ignorant to the feelings wreaking havoc inside of me. All I could manage was a curt nod to answer him. I watched him walk away, ignoring the feeling of despair. It feels like I'm always in this position. Watching the ones I care about walk away from me. Watching them move on when I knew I never would. I couldn't help but wish that he wouldn't give up on me like all the others.
It didn't matter if I chased after them, they would still leave. Nothing was ever permanent and would never be. Tears stung my eyes, threatening to fall over. I gulped them back and turned around heading to the only person I could rely on. The only person that was still here.

Hey guys! Thanks so much for deciding to try out my book! Hopefully you won't regret it haha :).
Okay so now for the boring lecture that is in basically every book, but it has to be there. 99% of you won't even think about copying my work, but there is always that 1%, am I right? So this is for you 1% people.
Obviously my work is copyrighted, so please, PLEASE, do not copy it. Seriously, it would be lame if you did, it shows you have no absolute imagination. If you do, be forewarned that bad things shall befall you!! On the other hand, fan art and little things like that is fine with me, just don't copy my work!
Also, any similarities of my characters to real life people, other book characters, actors, or basically anything with a personality, is PURELY coincidental. The same goes for the plot and setting. Well actually not the setting cause that is in a real place, but you know what I mean ;p
Now see y'all later, I hope you like the book!
