My name is Yukiko Arimo and I am from Tokyo, Japan...

I was on a family trip to the United States but our fun came to a tragic end when the bus we were riding in crashed. I was the only survivor, and because I was only six, I had no way to get back home. So, I just wandered... I was lost in Boston... In a country of a language that I could not speak.

Eventually, I came across Surrey Street where I began to go door-to-door looking for a new place to call home. However, because I barely knew any English, nobody could communicate with me. Perhaps I could've just found an orphanage instead.

I began to feel tired when I arrived to a house with the address "twelve". When I rang the doorbell, a tall man with brown hair opened the door.
"Hello?" he said.
Trying my best to explain who I was, I said, "Kon'nichiwa, watashi no namae wa Arimo Yukiko desu. Basu jiko de kazoku o nakushi, ima wa hitoribotchidesu... Tasuketekudasai!"
"Hello, my name is Yukiko Arimo. I lost my family in a bus crash and now I am all alone... Please help me!"

I could tell that he could not understand anything I said, and he shut the door. I just stood there because I was so tired of walking.

I could hear talking from inside the house. Then, a boy with brown hair opened the door with a phone in his hand. He showed me a translator app and tapped a microphone icon.

This made me realize that these people actually wanted to help me. So, I repeated what I said to his father, and he translated his name as Greg Heffley. Then, he turned around and spoke to his family who was watching us from the living room.
Greg translated to me, "My family is okay with you living with us. But we will need to use translators to talk to you."

Then, I followed him inside.
"Her name is Yukiko Arimo..." said Greg.

(Wow! At the time I began to edit this it was May 23, 2020!)

The original title for this chapter was "The Japanese Girl".

I wrote this story four years ago and now I am finally back and I want to edit my old stories!

So, Yukiko's name was originally "Yukio". It was not until nearly a year after I wrote this story when I realized that "Yukio" is a boy's name.

Yukiko's old Japanese dialogue was actually very incorrect. Instead of using a translator, I used a "Your name in Japanese" generator. Even worse, I misspelled "Kon'nichiwa" as "Connichiwa".

Out of all of my old stories on this account, I believe this one needed the most editing attention. Mainly because of the incorrect "Japanese" dialogue. And because I am now trying to turn this story into a "diary", I am editing it into Yukiko's point of view.

Okay, that is all for now!

The "generator" looked something like this (My 2nd Musical.ly/Tik Tok account username was actually created using this)
