8. Saturday

On the drive home it was pretty quiet , he asked me how I was and I replied with I'm fine but he said no more after except that's good and kept on driving . I was very confused , does he not say much? Uurrgghhh ! I need to be focusing on more important things like how I'm going to be able to pay rent on my own for a whole FARM!

We arrive and I hesitate before reaching to get my key out of my pocket only then I realise I'm not wearing my own clothes and I don't have a key . CRAP! I think before remembering the emergency key under the rock behind the flower bush . I get it out quickly , slip it into the lock and open the door only to find the door was already open. I must have left it open when we went to the hospital in a rush. I hear noises coming from inside and shoot Jake a scared look, he immediately gets in front of me incase of danger and my heart melts but I snap back into reality . A man appears in the kitchen doorway , Jake leaps forward to punch him but the man catches him arm and just releases it . Jakes not aware of who he is but I know him only too well.

" Well, long time no see " he says , Jake looking questionably at me
" Dad " I say emotionless

Jake isn't really aware of my family situation but I glance at him making him aware that I am not happy to see him .

" What are you doing here ? " I ask him
" I stopped by yesterday to see you "
I start to get really annoyed and emotional at this , he said it as if he just comes by often to see me . I haven't seen my father since he just walked out after the incident 10 years ago . I wasn't ready for this .
" You are not welcome here, you have destroyed our family , you didn't care and you still don't , you are a selfish , cruel man that I want nothing to do with " I start screaming but he doesn't even flinch
" Emi... "
I interrupt him " NO . GET OUT NOW! " I lose my temper

He starts to walk out of the door , closing it behind him . I burst out crying , frustrated that he gave up so easily and and relieved he did before I hit him

" Come on , I think that's enough upset for one day " Jake comes over and try's to comfort me

We get back in the car and go back to his house

As soon as we get back Jakes mother rushes to me to calm me down while Jake explains the situation

" Aw you poor thing " his mom says comforting me in her arms

I say I would like to go upstairs to bed and she quickly agrees. I head up to 'my room' and get into bed not able to sleep so I sit there thinking. I hear a knock on the door .

" Come in " I shout expecting it to be Jake's mother but it's Jake himself

He comes in and sits in the end of my bed

" When I was younger " he started " I had a brother called Stephan " he noticed my startled look but carried on, I never knew he had a brother! " He was my idol , the only person I wanted to be like , my hero. I was only young but he was 15 and we found out one day that he had been rushed to hospital for use of drugs and apparently it wasn't the first time , he had lied to a nurse saying he had no family 2 years ago when he ended up in hospital . My family was devastated and by the time we had gotten to the hospital he was already gone " I was shocked , why would he tell me this ?

" I'm so sorry " I said
" There's nothing to be sorry for , it was his own fault " anger starting in his voice

He just got up and walked out then . I couldn't get to sleep thinking all about what he must have been through . How terrible , how painful .
