"Eric! Wait. Where are you going?" I exclaimed out of breath.
"I'm sorry. I really am. I have to go back first. I - we'll figure things out back at home."
"No! Who's more important?" My heart began to race. I don't know if I even wanted to know the answer. After a moment of silence, Eric reached for my hand on his arm and pulled it off.
"I'm sorry." Eric said with the sincerest, most apologetic look in his eyes. I blinked a couple times and by my third blink, he was gone.
