Olivia's POV.
"Olivia" I hear my mother call from downstairs, I groan and step out of the shower wrapping the towel extra tightly around my body. I pull on a pair of skin coloured tights and my long grey jumper and my black heeled boots. It's my best outfit and I want to look nice and mature. It's my first day starting at New York State University and whilst my peers were out getting drunk and wasting their planning time, I had spent months pencilling in important dates into my diary for what I needed to do.
"Olivia" My mother calls again and I rush down the stairs, carefully checking each step so I don't fall. I grab my shoulder bag off the counter and hook it over my shoulder, it contains my phone and my purse.
She takes a long look at me and pulls me close, holding me at an angle by the top part of my arms, she takes a good look at me from head to toe. "My Olivia, a college girl" She whines. "You look so grown up!"
Good job that I do really, that's all my mother has really cared about, looking mature and being presentable.
"Henry's waiting in the car, he put your suitcases into the trunk whilst you were taking your time" My mother sighs, rolling her eyes and I look out the window at the car parked outside. Henry and I have been together for nearly three years, I met him when his parents moved into the house next door and since then we were inseparable. Henry isn't your typical bad boy type, his wardrobe consists of cremé khakis, woolly jumpers and loafers. He has blonde hair and light blue eyes, just like me. His love for novels and poetry were what caught my attention the most.
"Hey Olive" Henry lightly chuckles. This is his nickname for me, it always has been and I guess it always will be.
I've never given him a nickname, the idea has never stuck with me long enough for me to think of one and keep calling him it. His parents are very rich and their house is one bedroom bigger than mine, yet consists of a pool and a gym, two things mine never had. His parents were the loveliest couple you could ever meet, they were known as The Kellys' but their real names were Amanda and James Kelly. Henry had always been teased for his last name because obviously it was a girls name. His parents had given him his fathers name as a middle name so his name was Henry James Kelly. I had always been fascinated with his name, I thought it was beautiful and such a delicate choice.
"Are you looking forward to your first day?" Henry asks, he's still facing front concentrating on the road.
"Of course she is" My mother answers for me. "Olivia has always been looking forward to this"
I nod and agree with my Mother. She's always answered for me ever since I could speak really and I've just grown to be used to it.
The drive is three hours long and I have come prepared. I open my purse and take out my map of the campus. "This is my dorm" I say, gripping my pen and circling my dorm area. My dorm is in Section B out of the other six dorms: A, B, D, E and F. "This is the cafeteria" I point at the cafeteria on the map making sure my mother and especially Henry can see where it is, he will be joining me at NYSU next year. Even though he is the same age as me, his parents put him into kindergarten a year early, and I mentally curse at them because if they had have put him in at the same time as me, he would be joining me there right now. NYSU is a three hour drive and I am very sure that myself and Henry can sustain a long distance relationship.
We pull up into the campus car park of Section B. Henry parks the car closest to the door, I would like to think it's so he can get the suitcases out and up to my dorm quicker and easier, however I know it's because of the cold weather and he doesn't want me to affected by it. He is so sweet and caring.
We stop outside room 241, this is my dorm and by the sound of the booming music coming from inside I can tell I have a room mate, a loud one at that. I unlock the door with the key that had been posted through the mail a few weeks back.
As the door swings open, a bright blue haired girl catches my sight. Two other boys are sat on her bed.
"Omg hi" The blue haired girl smiles, folding me into a hug. I return the embrace. "I'm Jazz"
My mother tuts and I turn to face her, she is standing with her arms crossed and she is repeatedly rolling her eyes.
"I'm Olivia" I smile, and I turn to face the two boys sat on her bed.
"That's Niall" Jazz points to the blonde haired boy sat on her bed, he looks up at me and smiles, before giving me a small wave. He has tattoos but not as many as the other boy sat beside him.
"And that's Harry" She says, pointing to the boy sat next to her. Harry lets out a huff and doesn't bother looking up. I can tell I am already going to be facing a problem.
"We're getting you a new dorm immediately" My mother snaps. I shake my head at her and pull my suitcases beside my bed.
"It's fine mother" I sigh. "I'll be fine!" I repeat correcting myself.
"You have been placed in a room with this.. This thing who thinks its acceptable to have two tattooed freaks in her room on the first day" My mother rudely shouts.
Jazz's jaw drops, Niall's vision never left me, he looks shocked too, and finally Harry looks up.
"Mother stop it!" I snap. "You're being very rude and I will be fine, now if you don't mind I'd like to be left alone with Henry to say my goodbyes!" I whisper to her, she rolls her eyes but thankfully after making me promise to call her if I face any problems and a kiss on the cheek, she leaves. I step outside my room to be alone with Henry.
"I'm going to miss you so much" Henry breathes into my hair.
"Me too, I will ring you tonight" I reply. We give each other a quick kiss and say our 'I love yous' before we part our ways.
"I'm so sorry about that" I apologise to Jazz. My mother had no right to do that. Especially when she had done nothing wrong. "I'm sorry about what she said about you all" I say to them.
"Don't worry about it" Niall and Jazz say together in unison.
Harry ignores me.
I've decided he's rude and I don't want to be around him purposely.
I go into the walk in closet and hang up a few of my outfits. Niall and Harry have gone by the time I return.
"Hey Liv" Jazz says. I notice her new nickname for me. "Shit, sorry, is it okay if I call you Liv? I totally understand if you-"
"Jazz it's fine" I giggle, continuing to hang my clothes up into the walk in closet.
"Okay" She smiles. "There's a party tonight at the frat house, would you like to come?"
I think about it for a few moments before turning around.
"Sure" I smile. I could do with getting to know a few people around here, and a party is just the place. Everyone goes to a party.. right?
I could do my studying and finish packing another night. It didn't have to be completed by tonight.
"Great, it starts at 7" Jazz informs me. "I'll text Harry and Niall and find out what time they are picking us up"
I nod and hang up a few more of my clothes before going to take a shower to refresh myself for tonight's events.
