It Started With A Lie

Chapter 7

-----In the Kitchen----

"Mom. Does Mia have a phone?" Amber whispers. "Actually, no," Scarlet answers. "Maybe you guys can give her one," Amber suggests. "Well maybe we can give her one of our old phones or get her a new one," Felipe says. "Well, we'll get her a new one. We can run out and get her one after dinner, but it's a surprise so don't tell her," Scarlet says. "Okay," Amber and Angie says. "Can you go and get her and tell her dinner is ready?" Felipe says. "Okay. I'll do it," Amber says while she puts Tyler in a chair. "And ask her what's her favorite color," Scarlet says before Amber heads upstairs. 

Amber knocks on the door, "Come in," Mia says. "Dinner's ready," Amber says. "Okay," Mia says while putting her bookmark in her book and setting it on her bed. "Nice bedding and what's your favorite color?" Amber says. "Thanks and gold," Mia says. "Okay and what's wrong?" Amber asks. "It's not that anything is wrong, it's that I never had a family like this," Mia replies. Amber walks to Mia and hugs her, "I've never had a nice hug like this before," Mia says during the hug. "Well, in this family, hugs are everywhere," Amber says as they finish the hug. "Ready for dinner?" Amber asks. "Yea," Mia says as they walk in the hallway. "This pizza is mom and dad's special homemade pizza," Amber says as Mia and Amber walk down the stairs. 

When Mia and Amber come downstairs, Scarlet is setting out plates while Felipe is cutting the pizza. "We have milk with dinner. Do you like milk, Mia?" Scarlet says. "Yea I love to have milk," Mia says. "White, chocolate, or pink milk?" Angie asks as she opens the fridge. "Pink please," Mia says. "Mia you can pick a seat if you want," Felipe says. "Her favorite color is gold," Amber whispers to her mom. Mia sits in the chair next to Tyler. The table is a rectangle that is in the middle of the kitchen and has one chair on each short side of the table and two on each of the long sides. Angie and Amber sit across from Mia and Tyler while Scarlet and Felipe sit on each of the short ends. 

"I've never had homemade pizza. This is good," Mia complements. "Thanks. It's my mother's special homemade pizza that has a little extra ingredient in it," Felipe says. "What's the extra ingredient?" Mia asks. "An 1/8 teaspoon of black pepper," Felipe replies. "I love black pepper in pizza, it gives it a little bit of spice," Mia says. "We all love a little bit of spice," Amber says. Everyone smiles and eats the pizza, and after dinner they all threw out their paper plates and rinsed out their cups. 

Mia walked up to the bathroom and washed her hands. After, she went to her room, turned on her desk lap and goes on her bed to read again. Mia thinks in her mind, "I love adoption," with a smile. Then Mia hears a knock at the door, "come in." Scarlet walks in, "Mia would you want to go shopping for bathroom stuff and a couple of room things you might like?" "Yes. That would be nice to have some room stuff in here," Mia replies. "Okay. Well do you want to set the alarm or wake up when you wake up?" Scarlet asks. "Can I wake up when I wake up?" Mia asks. "Yes. And do you like chocolate chip pancakes?" Scarlet asks. "I love chocolate chip pancakes," Mia says. "Well you'll enjoy breakfast tomorrow," Scarlet says and they both laugh. "Happy reading," Scarlet says, "And if you want, tomorrow we can go to the book store too." "I'd love that," Mia says as Scarlet closes the door after hearing Mia's answer. 

"Is this how life is?" Mia thinks to herself. "One more thing," Scarlet says as she reenters. "Yea?" Mia asks. "Do you have a bed time at all?" Scarlet asks. "No, my mom never set one for me so I always went to bed when I felt like it. But I did set one for myself when I was living with my mom," Mia replies. "When is that?" Scarlet asks. "10:00," Mia answers. "That's the time Amber and Angie usually goes to bed also," Scarlet says. "Really? I always thought that was late and that parents usually put the bed time as 9:00," Mia says. "Well you can go to bed anytime as long as it's not past 10," Scarlet says. "Okay," Mia says. "Are you comfortable to call us mom and dad?" Scarlet asks. "Yes," Mia says. "Okay then me and your dad have to go run an errand before the store closes and we'll be gone for about 45 minutes at most," Scarlet says. "Okay," Mia says and Scarlet leaves her room. 

Felipe and Scarlet head out to the store and buys Mia a gold IPhone 6 and a Latitude computer with a amazon gift card so if Mia wants a case for her phone, she can buy it from Amazon.  They head home and see Mia, Angie and Amber finishing Trouble. "Hey girls," Felipe says. "Hi," Mia, Angie and Amber says. "When you finish the game; let us know," Scarlet says and they walk into the basement. "I win. But how is that possible, I have never played," Mia says, shocked. "Usually, I win," Amber says. "I'm glad your apart of our family," Angie says. "I'm glad that I'm here as well," Mia says. Then they hug and Amber says, "I'm gonna go get mom and dad," and she walks to the basement to get them. 

-----In the Basement----

"Mom, Dad what phone did you get her?" Amber asks. "An IPhone 6 in gold and a computer," Scarlet answers. "With a Amazon gift card for her to choose a case," Felipe adds in. "She says she is feeling happy to be apart of this family," Amber says. "Well, we're glad and we heard you love her in the family," Scarlet says. "Yea. It's good to have another sister," Amber says. "We're glad," Felipe says. "Why are you in the basement?" Amber asks. "We wanted to wrap her computer and phone box and put her gift card in a card sized box," Felipe says. Then they head upstairs, into the living room.
