It Started With A Lie

Chapter 6

"I think she needs to be loved like we are to our children. So I think if you agree, we should take her in," Scarlet says. "I think that she does deserve a family like ours so I agree if she agrees," Felipe says. "I told her that if my husband agrees would she like to be in our family and she said yes if you say yes so her answer is yes," Scarlet replies. "Then I say yes and Aria does and as well as you. So yes to the adoption of Aria," Felipe says. "Okay, then I will bring her in," Scarlet says as she gets up, opens her door and calls Aria in. "We would like to take you into our family," Scarlet says. "Really?" Aria asks shocked. "Yes," Felipe says. "Thank you!" Aria exclaims. "Your welcome," Scarlet says. 

"Can I ask you something?" Aria asks. "Yes. What is?" Scarlet asks. "Can I change my name?" Aria asks. "Sure, but why?" Felipe says. "My mom named me Aria but I don't want to remember myself as Aria. I want to be someone else meaning the name," Aria answers. "Okay. What would your name be?" Scarlet asks. "I was always common of Mia," Aria answers. "That's a very nice name. Once we have you adopted, we can go to the courthouse," Felipe says. "Thanks I appreciate it," Aria replies. "No problem. We just need to fill out some paperwork to legal have you in our custody," Scarlet says, Aria smiles and thanks Scarlet and Felipe. 

In an hour, Aria is legally in the Smith's family. Now, it was 3:00 so there was still time to take Aria in to change her name. So they drove to the courthouse and got Aria's name to Mia so now she is no longer Aria, now she is Mia. "Well Mia, we are glad to have you in our family and you will be able to meet your siblings," Scarlet says. "Yea, I can't wait to meet them. But I still don't have things. I only have clothes for tomorrow because I was going to sleep at my friend's house until she canceled," Aria answers. "Well, we can go shopping since there is two days til you are able to go get your things from your old house," Scarlet says. "Thanks. I really appreciate you guys taking me in," Mia replies. "No problem," Scarlet says. "You are apart of our family and we do things for our family," Felipe says, and Mia smiles. 

 "Do you have any bedding?" Felipe asks. "No well yes but they don't keep me warm and its only a cover, not actually bedding," Mia says. "Well, we can take you shopping today so you have bedding and we'll get you new clothes," Scarlet says. "Thanks," Mia says. "Our pleasure," Felipe says and they drive to Kohl's for her bedding and new clothing.

They head to the bedding section. They look around and Mia likes 'Madison Park Mansfield Quilted Coverlet Set in blue with two light blue throw pillows. Then they head to the shoe section and tries on wedges, tennis shoes, and flats. She gets one pair of wedges, two pairs of flats and tennis shoes. Next, they took her to the clothing section for juniors and got 8 pairs of shorts and pants, and 10 short sleeves and long sleeve shirts plus 4 jean jackets: two were short and the other two are long sleeved and the rest of needed things for her. Lastly, they go and check out the items they gathered and leave to the house. 

"We're here," Scarlet says. Mia looks outside the window and sees a nice two story house with bricks. "Everyone has their own room well except me and Felipe. And Mia we just want to let you know that when you feel comfortable, you can call us mom and dad," Scarlet says. "Thank you," Mia says in a pause with a smile, "mom and dad." 

Scarlet grabs two Kohl's bags and Mia grabs the third one. Felipe grabs the bedding bag and closes the trunk. They walk to the front door and Felipe unlocks and holds the door for Scarlet and Mia. "Mom. Angie won't leave me alone. I am trying to take care of Tyler, but she won't let me," Amber says, while holding Tyler. "No I'm not. I just want to hang out with my siblings," Angie says. "Girls. Please stay still. We have news," Felipe says. "What is it?" Angie asks. "Mia, can you come here?" Scarlet says. "Whose Mia?" Amber asks. "Hi," Mia says, coming around the corner. "This is your new sister," Felipe says. 

"Oh my. I can't believe it... I have another sister," Angie says happily. "Welcome to the family. I'm so happy and did you guys go shopping?" Amber asks. "Thanks and yes. I needed things because at my old home, I didn't have bedding there or clothes really so they nicely took me to get those things," Mia says. "Well, Mia we'll take you to your room and then your mother and I are going to make dinner. What do you like?" Felipe says. "I like some things. If you suggest something, I can tell you if I like that," Mia says. "Do you like pepperoni pizza?" Felipe asks. "Yes. I love pizza," Mia answers. Felipe, Mia and Scarlet carried the things they carried in to Mia's new room. They head to the second last door on the left. 

The room had gold colored curtains over the two windows that were on the back wall and light purple painted walls. Then there was another window on the right wall. The bed was in the middle, between the windows. There was a closet next to the door that took up half the wall and next to the closet was a finished brown, 8 drawer dresser. A coat rack next to the door, and finally there was a desk on the left wall when you enter. 

"This is a very nice room," Mia says. "Well we have been planning on adopting a girl and you were the one we wanted to adopt," Scarlet says. "Glad you like it!" Felipe says. "I do," and she gives them a big hug. "You guys can put the bags on the bed and I can organize," Mia says with a smile. "Okay," Felipe says as Felipe and Scarlet puts the bags on the bed. "We'll check back in 5 minutes," Scarlet says. Mia smiles and they close the door behind them. 

Mia opens her closet and sees black hangers so she puts the clothes: Jean jackets, long sleeve shirts, and short sleeves. She takes her shoes out of the box and places them on the closet floor. Lastly, puts the rest of her clothing and other needed things in the dresser drawers. 

Scarlet, Felipe, Angie and Amber with Tyler walk in her room. "How's it going?" Scarlet asks. "Good. I just have to make my bed and I'm done with my room," Mia replies. "I'm happy to have another sister as well," Amber says. "I'm happy to have a family," Mia says. "And we are happy to have you here with us," Felipe says. "Well, we'll leave you alone so you can finish and get comfortable," Scarlet says. Then they leave, once they close her bedroom door, she makes her bed with the bedding and puts all her pillows on it.
