Chapter 1: Unpleasent News

"Why do we have to go to New York for New Year's" I complained

"Because your Aunt Betty never saw you on Christmas this year because of that snowstorm and that we normally don't see her anymore" Mom explained

"And plus she's your aunt, wouldn't you be upset if you didn't see your niece or nephew after three years" Dad was saying

"I guess, if I didn't live in a mansion"

Dad made a face at me.

"Can I at least- mom cut me off, "No"

"You don't even know what I was gonna say"

"Yes I do"

"Then what was I gonna say"

"You were gonna ask if you can invite Hannah and Jackie"

"Can I"

"I said no"

"Why can't I invite them"

"Because we're going to see Aunt Betty for New Year's not just because and having our friends come along"

"Look honey" My dad was saying to Mom. Mom made a face.

"Look your mom's right, we're not doing this all willy-nilly, we're going to see your Aunt Betty"

"Mom doesn't even like her sister"

"That's a good point"

"Hello?"

"Okay we're going to New York without your friends and there's nothing you can do about it"

I ran to my room angry. I want to be with my friends on New Year's. It's so unfair, mom and dad always have their friends over on holidays and on their birthdays, it's so stupid!

The next morning I was finishing up packing for New York.

I heard someone's voice, it sounded like Jackie's and Hannah's. I went to my window, I saw them by my house.

Downstairs, I opened the door.

"Hey what are you guys doing"

"We know you are going to New York for New Year's and we just wanted to say bye"

"Oh"

I came out hugging them. "Bye guys I'm really gonna miss you".

"It's for only New Year's"

"Well yes, but also we're staying for the week"

"Oh, lucky"

"I really wanted you guys to come, but when I asked my parents if you could come they said no"

"But what if they didn't know"

"Are you thinking of what I'm thinking"

"Yep"

"That's illegal"

"I know but it's totally worth it"

I just shook my head laughing.

Then later on the way to the airport.
