Finding Each Other

Carl's POV
        The loud knocks put everyone on guard and tense. I started to pull out my gun turning off the safety and holding it down ready to shoot when I needed too. Everyone else was behind me and following my actions, taking out their weapons and preparing to attack. I quickly and carefully and carefully threw open the door and raised my gun. No one was there. I quietly started walking out onto the front porch. I carefully scanned the area around the door. I still didn't see anyone.

"Carl?" I heard a voice call out to me. I turned and raised the gun in the direction of the voice but quickly put it down when I realized who called me.

"Maggie? Glenn? I thought you guys were dead! How are you? Have seen anyone else? Is anyone else with you?" Without giving them a chance of answering I bombarded them with questions and walked over to them hugging them extra hard.

"Woah! Slow down there one question at a time and don't squeeze too hard I can't breathe." Glenn chuckled quietly. I was just so happy to see them and we let go of each other.

"Where's everyone else?" Asked Maggie.

"Carl, love. Who is it?" The gentle voice of Rose called from the house peaking out the front door. It's funny the first time I met here I felt like she was more of a strong and outgoing personality but once I got to know really well it turns out she is more shy and gentle. But don't get me wrong she would definitely kick your butt if she needed to.

" Maggie! Glenn!" She exclaimed she jumped over the railing of the front porch and rushed over to greet the two.

"I'm so glad you're safe! I thought lost you." She hugged them both the same way I did and was close to tears. Slowly everyone started coming out of the house to see the couple and welcome them. Maggie and Rose were off to the side Maggie had her hands cupped around Rose's face talking to her. I'm sure Rose missed her a lot. Finally,
Maggie kissed Rose's cheek and let her go to talk to everyone else but not before giving Rose a long hug.

    Rose turned and looked around and saw that everyone else was occupied talking to each other until her eyes landed one me. My eyes softened and she walked over and I hugged her softly swaying each other side to side.

"Come on, let's go inside." As I wrapped my arm around her shoulder.

"You know Carl. I don't think I could live in this world with out you." She told me.

"I don't think I could live in any world without you." She smiled and we rubbed our noses together just for a second than kissed each other gently.

     As the sun started to set everyone started trickling in and getting ready for the night we may not have been a complete group but that was okay because I am sure we will all find each other soon. As I settled in for the night I wrapped my arms around Rose and she copied my actions. I kissed her forehead gently and for the first time since the break out I slept peacefully not fearing for the lives of the people I loved most, and one of them is in my arms.
