That night...

I just let it slip from my mouth. I was reckless.

Roxas and I went walking in silence for a while when he spoke, "Don't you have to go home too?" he questioned. I shook my head.

"Wait here for a sec." he said, he started rushing somewhere. When he came back, he had two ice creams and he gave one to me. "I used my winner popsicle stick." he smiled.

"Thanks." I said, taking a bite from my sea salt ice cream.

We continued to walk. "You know," Roxas began again, "when you mentioned that thing about the sunset, I thought about this person... he feels so familiar... but it's like I hardly know him now."

"You're not supposed to remember!" I blurted by accident. Roxas looked at me in confusion, or as if I was crazy. That's when I let it slip, at that very moment. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean that... I guess it just slipped." I admitted

"Right..." Roxas said, like it was perfectly normal.

"Thanks again, for the ice cream." I said, holding up my ice cream, "I really appreciate it." For that whole night, no matter how much I tried not to get close to him as a friend, it didn't seem to work. Instead, I liked becoming his friend.

"I remember one time when Hayner..." he would tell me all these stories, and I would laugh. For those moments that I talked to him, I actually didn't want him to go. He has every right to keep those memories, he has friends, just like all of us.

So why can't he just stay with them?

Then there's Sora. If I don't complete my mission, what will I tell Riku, or Kairi? He hasn't come back because I spent too much time with his other half? Just what am I supposed to do?

While I was thinking about all this, I didn't realize that I let a few tears roll down my cheeks.

"Are you okay?" Roxas asked, noticing my tears.

"Huh?" I wiped them away, "Oh, yeah. I'm fine." I smiled at him.

"Are you sure?" he questioned in disbelief.

"Yeah." I assured. "I guess I can't stop thinking about my friends at home. At that moment Roxas frowned at me. "What?" I asked.

"You keep saying it's your friends from back home, and that hurts the whole group, you know?" he began. I looked at him in confusion. "It makes us think you don't accept us as your friends." he sighed.

"Sorry." I mumbled. I really didn't know.

He held my hands in his, "From now on, we're also your friends." he told me seriously. I nodded and he let go of my hands. "It's late now, I have to go." he explained. I nodded, he was about to walk away when I stopped him.

"About that picture..." I started, which made him look back around, "How did you think I was cute?" I asked in embarrassment.

He just smiled, "Because you always are." he walked away and that smile charmed me more than anything.

* * *

I still couldn't believe I let that slip out of my mouth. As soon as I arrived home I was visited by DiZ, he told me to either cooperate, or just leave.

I had a dream that night that I was Roxas. It was strange. It was strange in various ways. Some things gave me deja vú, but that was probably because most of the scenes were in Twilight Town. The thing I found the scariest of all was this man with red hair - his face blurred - with a black coat explaining why the sun set red.

"Like I asked! Know-It-All!" came the reply from Roxas. When they started laughing, I immediately woke up.

I couldn't help but feel watched. Really, I was. DiZ was keeping me in check, like I cared. I got dressed and made my way to the usual spot. No one was there, so I thought I'd browse around. Pence's pictures are on point, honestly. He should become a photographer, I thought. I wonder how that would work for him. I couldn't help but smile thoughtfully at the photos with Roxas in them. He looked like he was having so much fun... what would happen to him if he went back to Sora? Would I even look at Sora the same way? All these questions did was just bother me.

When everyone walked in, they immediately started arguing about the homework they were left with for summer vacation.

"I'm just saying, we should enjoy our summer vacation while it lasts." Hayner shrugged.

"Right, right." Olette rolled her eyes.

"What're we doing today?" I asked.

"Ice cream's on you!" everyone burst at me in unison.

"Huh?" I said in confusion.

"You're buying the ice cream today. We've all done our share this week." Pence explained. Fair enough, I thought as I shrugged.

"Right. I'll be back then." I told them as I set off to buy the ice cream.

As soon as I bought the ice cream, I went dashing to the usual spot. Before I turned the corner to the alleyway, a piece of familiar black fabric caught the corner of my eye. I walked back to see if anyone was there, I just saw the cloaked figure walking away.

"Hey!" I called after the person. They just ignored me and continued walking. I shrugged it off and made my way back to the usual spot.
