The orphanage had tripped an alarm when I went missing. I didn't care at all. Red barked at me, and I heard what he was concerned about. Police sirens wailed through the silence. "That's strange..." I murmured. Then I froze. Hearing his maniacal laugh... It can't be him! Not here!
"You wanna hear my secret?!" Jimmy cackled. Then a scream and another laugh. Knowing I couldn't play dead, I started running, Red barking behind me.
"Is some lost doggy looking for me? Looks like a reunion you could DIE for!" He was so close. I ducked into the shadows, hoping he wouldn't notice me. As I ran, I tripped over a branch, alerting Jimmy to my presence. "Hello? Come out, come out, wherever you are! I won't hurt you!" I screamed in fear when I saw him. I knew there was nothing I could do.
(Lol for those who read this, CLIFFHANGERS MUAHAHAHAHA! Actually, you know she escapes... Wouldn't be much of a book if the main character dies 3 chapters in)
