Hey, funky monkeys! It is my pleasure to announce the winning blurb and to give a few honorable mentions. You can find the links to each story in the first comment.

AND THE WINNER IS...  ammahler WITH THE BLURB FOR HER STORY THE GUARDIAN!

When Jack Justice saved Lady Nora from highway bandits, he never thought eternal life would be the reward

When Jack Justice saved Lady Nora from highway bandits, he never thought eternal life would be the reward. Now, the race is on to keep the Philosopher's Stone from evil hands and they have all the time in the world to do it... literally.

My thoughts: This is the blurb she entered with. The one you'll find when you go to her story is longer, but also interesting. I'm not sure why this one attracted me more; maybe because it is short, but gives us the basic information we need to care while showing us that there's more to learn.

Honorable mentions go to (in no particular order):

"And she watched them all burn."

Nausicaa has a scar for every year of her life. Darwin begins to count them one by one.

My thoughts: Simple, yet engaging.

A rebellious young girl discovers her grandparents love letters to each other while her grandfather was at war in Vietnam, in her mother's closet. She embarks on a journey of love and passion through their eyes. Being suspended from school, she reads the letters while home alone and discovers a secret that she will take to her grave just like her grandparents.

My thoughts: "in her mother's closet" at the end makes the whole sentence sound like an info dump. Other than that, this seems like an interesting plot, so well done.

Rugby League player, Mitch Weston, doesn't have time for a serious relationship. A recent scare has him wary of casual flings too. With a tenacious, unwanted admirer attending his sister's wedding, Mitch's friend suggests a fake girlfriend - someone he's guaranteed won't get attached. It's a fool-proof plan.

Career driven sports journalist, Kenzie Matterson, needs a holiday. And maybe a stress-relieving fling. Her twin agrees and convinces Kenzie to take her place playing pretend girlfriend to friend-of-a-friend Mitch, for a weekend in Fiji. They've twin-switched before. She'll never see him again. What could go wrong?

He keeps to himself and doesn't date anyone from the office. She has free tickets to Hawaii and a plan. Sort of.

When heart-broken Beth wins two tickets to paradise, she doesn't plan on using them to save her job as a photographer at a home and garden magazine. She doesn't plan on making a deal with her aloof co-worker Russell to get him to go with her, either. And it might have been a mistake to make the deal when she was too drunk to remember the terms of their arrangement.

Yeah, half a dozen mojitos on top of a margarita might have been over doing it.

Now, not only does she have to spend her time in Hawaii taking fabulous pictures so she doesn't get fired, she has to figure out what Russell has agreed to do for her (or to her!) in exchange for his free trip. But the hardest part of all will be keeping her hormones under control at repeated exposure to his mouth-watering masculinity.

My thoughts for the last two: This has been done before so I'm not sure what got me to give the two blurbs an honorable mention. It's probably because the purpose of a blurb is to make you want to read the story and these made me consider reading.
