"E-Eren..."

A shiver sparked through the frail blonde's body, causing Eren to wince. His best friend was in unbearable pain...and it had to have been his fault.

If only he had been quicker.

"I'm here, Armin...It's okay..." Eren promised, gently stroking the wispy wheat hair he adored so much. A choked breath was what emitted the dying boy's lips.

"E-Eren...Would you...sing to me...?" Asked the frail teenager, blood continuously leaking out of his side. Color was swiftly draining from his face. His breathing was rigid and unpredictable.

Eren didn't know how to respond. His best friend was dying before him, and wanted to hear Eren's voice before he left for good. Why...Why couldn't it be him..?

"Wh-What do you want to hear?" He asked, his emerald eyes swimming in young and salty tears. Armin raised a shaking hand, and loosely clasped Eren's.

"Y-You are my...Sunshine...P-Please, My Mother used to...sing it..." Armin gasped as he failed to take in more oxygen. He coughed a bit, spluttering some blood onto his already untidy uniform.

The tears he had been trying to hold back suddenly sprang forward and escaped. The hot liquids trailed down Eren's tanned skin. Why did this have to happen to everyone he cared about?!

"You are my Sunshine...My only Sunshine..."

A small smile appeared on Armin's blood-splattered lips. He gave Eren's hand a minuscule squeeze, as if trying to thank him.

Eren could feel the limpness radiating off of Armin's scrawny frame. He wasn't listening anymore. His smile was still there, but it didn't mean anything.

Eren couldn't deal with this. Armin wasn't gone! He just needed some bandages and first-aid, that was all!

Eren clutched tighter to the blonde body, sobs escaping him every so often. This was just a horrific nightmare! Everything was going to be fine!

"You make me happy, when skies are gray..."

It was true. Armin could always cheer his friend up when they were younger, and he was always trying to prove himself to Eren. He could do anything, truly he could, if he put his intelligent little mind to it.

A flashed memory of the blonde smiling excitedly as he opened a book to show his friends; it nearly killed Eren. The worst realization, that the Titan-shifter had been subconsciously trying to avoid, hit him like a ton of bricks.

Another tight squeeze.

More crying.

"You'll never know, dear, how much I love you..."

Armin would never get to see the ocean. He was gone.

"Please don't take my Sunshine...away..." It was too late.
