Sorry I took so long with the update. I was trying to figure out a good approach for the next chapter and this is pretty much what I got 😂 So here you go.

Donte's POV

Something told me not to leave, but it was hard not to. I was heated asf and I knew I was gonna end up getting even more pissed if I talked to her again.

I rubbed my head and knocked on her door again.

"What?" I heard her sobbing.

"Open the door, Ma."

"No," she sniffled.

"I'm not leaving until you open the door."

"Why?" She groaned.

"Because I know something wrong with you and I wanna talk."

This wasn't normally like me, I wasn't the feelings type and I definitely didn't like spending so much time on one female, but she was a good person and somewhat of a friend.

She opened the door, looking down at the floor. 

"Yes?"

"You wanna start over real quick?"

She looked up at me with glassy brown eyes and red cheeks then nodded slowly.

"My name Donte, what about you?" She smiled a little and sniffled.

"Gabriel," she answered, cradling her arms. I reached out my hand for her to shake, but she hugged me instead.

"I'm sorry," she laid into my chest," I'm just-"

"Don't worry about it, G," I laid down in the crook of her neck. She sniffled some more and I rubbed her back.

"Tell me what's wrong."

I walked her to the couch and she plopped down next to me

"I'm j-just so...My ex cheated on me and my trust is... I just don't wanna get hurt again," she looked up at me with these big brown eyes. She reminded me of a little kid.

"That's fucked up," I shook my head," But don't let ole boy mess up what you got now. You doing good, Gabriel. And he probably miserable asf since he let you go. Somebody gon give you the world, baby girl, and you gon forget all about him."

She sniffled some more and hugged me tighter.

"I'm sorry," she started crying harder," You didn't have to do this."

"Yea, I did," I rubbed her back," You gotta get those feelings out, Ma, because going off like that made me think you was bi polar or some." I chuckled lightly and she cracked a smile.

"You're a good person, Donte," she mumbled into my chest.

"I try."

Gabriel's POV

Few Weeks Later...

"You know what's funny?" Nia yelled at Danny through the phone," You always say this shit. I'm done, okay?"

I rolled my eyes as I rubbed Bubba's tummy. I had such a strong urge to do homework, but I kept reminding myself that the semester was over and I was done for the time being.

"Why should I?" She started crying," You don't trust me, so why would I trust you?"

I went into the kitchen and grabbed a pack of red velvet Oreo cookies.
