time exists in shadows
that much is what we know
to thread a thought through simple
memories makes it glow
makes time stop and matter
as each one of us wonders why
a man wakes up each morning
to spend it working life away
to sit at a desk
whether working or not
getting paid by the hour
dripping sweat
not a lot
no pain
just agony
no regret
just departure
from dreams
and remedy
this simple life
no tranquilty
