The flower so complexly simple that it's faded purple petals might as well be a gift from God himself. They wove in and out of the braid of strawberry blonde hair and the girl smiled bright as the sun, maybe even brighter. She was indeed the image of a princess. Stilinski, chief of guards and the man who brought her new and strange flowers everyday, had told her it was wolfsbane. He didn't need to. Lydia was smart, she'd read all of the books in her library at least two or three times each.

"Someone looks ravishing." A smooth voice rumbles from in the doorway and Lydia looks past her reflection in the mirror. She rolls her eyes at Isaac then turns to look at who had leaned against the wall. He was antagonizing and one very hellish boy and given the opportunity Lydia would gladly throw him into the dungeon to rot. The only thing stopping her is the fact their parents were married. Step siblings.
"You cannot flirt with me. We're related." She bites.
"Ah but not by blood." He pushes off of the doorway with an amused grin on his face. "Besides, I wasn't speaking of you. I was talking to this handsome fellow, right here, in the mirror." Isaac points to himself.

"Hello sir. What would your name be?" Isaac holds out his hand to the mirror causing Lydia to laugh and roll her eyes.
"You are so narcissistic!" She says through a grin.
"Not when there'd be a lady in my bed."
"Which is," she pauses to fake think, "oh right! Never!" Lydia laughs as he shoves her lightly. She then proceeds to grab a long dark coat from the back of her vanity chair, wrapping it around her shoulders before buttoning it up.

"That doesn't exactly look like formal dinner wear." Isaac points out. There's a call from downstairs, both teens heads whipping to the door of Lydia's room. Lydia lets out a small curse before going over to her window.
"Cover for me." She commands more than asks before jumping out onto the roof.
"I always cover for you!" He whisper yells after her before leaving the room.

Lydia did this often, slipping out of her window and down the roof of the castle until her shoes hit the ground. She took a shortcut through the woods in order to get to the main square. She spent her days drawing or reading by a large oak in the middle of the forest. There she was alone, no rules, to expectations and most of all no one knew she was the princess.

Today was just another normal day, looking up at the sunlight through breaks in the trees.
"And what could a beautiful young maiden like you be doing wandering the forest?" A chuckle sounds from up in the branches and Lydia lets out a little shriek creating more laughter. She stumbles over a root and falls to the leaf covered ground with a huff, the laughter now antagonizing.
"Tearing up your silk dresses! Your Mother would be so disappointed, I assume you are high in your finances?" The voice chirps.

Lydia stands in a huff, brushing off her deep red dress. It clashed horribly with her auburn hair but her mother had forced her to wear it today. She hated the things her mother made her wear. All of them. She groans, examining a small tear at the bottom of the skirt that would surely get her in trouble. "Are you making a joke?" She calls out, snatching her cloak from the ground. Surely he knew who she was and knew that she was, in fact, 'high in her finances'. There was no assuming.
"A joke?" He chuckles lightly. "There is no joke to be told. I spoke the truth when I said you where beautiful."

She smiles and shakes her head with the roll of her pretty eyes.
"And where is the boy I'd be speaking to?" She asks. A small stick was dropped upon her head, an "OW" slipping between her lips as she rubs the spot.
"Sorry." Another laugh and suddenly she knows exactly where he is. Looking up to the trees, there was the boy. He was hanging upside down with a large limb tucked to the underside of his knees. His face was beet red and she couldn't really tell his features except for the tuffs of chestnut hair poking in different directions from the top of his head. He was laughing all the same, maybe from the lack of oxygen to his brain, but still very giggly.

"And what are you? The towns jester?" She asks and he gives a smile.
"Actually, I'm a florist. And you?" He didn't recognize her? Sure she's only had a few public outings but enough to where she would be recognizable.
"Have you ever seen the princess?" She asks. He furrows his brows.
"What an odd question." He mumbles. "No, not a day in my life. Of course I wish to, doesn't everyone?"

She smiles, liking this boy already purely based on the fact that he didn't know who she was. "I'm Lydia."
"Named after the Royal herself, Stiles." He grins. Stiles. She hummed, liking the name.
"May I ask you a question?" She says.
"You have already asked me several but go on."
"How long have you been up there?" She asks, examining his red face. Once again, he was too high up for any details.

He thinks for a moment. "Bout two hours or so."
"Why are you in a tree in the first place?" The girl laughs, causing him to smile.
"My best friend told me to climb up here and stay put." He shrugs as best as one could hanging upside down.
"And you listened?" She laughs again. He couldn't exactly tell her he had no choice but to do what his friend had told him. It was his curse.

You see, when Stiles was only an infant his mother worked at the castle doing something him and his father still have no clue about. Long story short she came home with a potion from the queen herself that would make Stiles obedient. It wasn't until after his mother passed did they realize he was a little too obedient. "Stiles would you mind setting the table?" If it was said in that manner, it was an option: he could set the table or not. "Stiles, set the table." It was a command. Non-optional and his body would automatically leap up to do as told.

"Well? Get down from there!" Lydia says and thank goodness she did. Stiles lets out a breath of relief as his body automatically takes over, swinging himself upright before doing as told and climbing down. Now that she could see him closer, he was noticeably handsome. Moles dotting his cheeks, caramel eyes that looked as sweet as the candy itself. And she was beautiful, stunning to the point where he was staring.

A blush crept across her snowy cheeks and she turned with a smile, hearing the leaves crunch on the ground as he followed behind.
"I like your hair." He clears his throat, studying the flowers with a lovable curiosity. Wolfsbane, monks hood, aconitum. Lycoctonom; lykos; wolf. Greek. It took his mind a matter of seconds to decode the species and its background.

They were from his shop, he recognized, but didn't say anything of it.
"Thank you, the flowers are my favorite." She tucks a loose curl behind her ear and focuses on the ground rather than the handsome boy beside her. "So how old are you?"
"Nineteen, and you?" Instead of keeping forward, he wandered off to the right and behind a tree causing Lydia to stop and look after him.
"Seventeen, My birthday is in two weeks." She calls out loudly, wanting to make sure he had heard.

Stiles reappears with a large pink flower in hand. He had remembered going down this path two days ago and spotting it. She gave a chuckle when he handed into her and thanked him silently before continuing on their way.
"Two weeks? Just in time for the winter ball." He grinned. Ah yes, the winter ball, held in celebration every year for the princess' birthday. Did this ever occur to Stiles at slightly coincidental? No. But I think he was too stunned by her presence to try and put the puzzle together.
