Number 1: Common Plot Lines

Have you ever been searching for something to read on a rainy day and you see a promising story that doesn’t mention seem to mention a single cliché only to find you’ve read about twenty books where the exact same types of things happen?

Well I have and it’s one of the most annoying things ever. Most books now-a-days I just guess the plot instead of reading. How many stories can any one person read about twin werewolf prince mates, a nerdy rejection story, vampires and slaves, student/teacher mates? Paranormal stories aren’t the only over-written clichés; there’s the bad-boy who falls for the good girl, the nerd and the bad boy, the player changing for a girl, the teacher corrupting a student, or something else? I’ll admit there are a few amazing stories out there that have one of these plots, but they’re so hard to find when there are five million other books that look the same.

And then people wonder why there are so many authors out there falsely claiming plagiarism. The Cell Phone Swap @DoNotMicrowave was amazing book actually plagiarized when @professionalninja180 posted Accidental Cell Phone Swap (which Wattpad rightfully took down). When Im Back was posted by @nora1087, it was not a plagiarizing Your Mistake @secrets000 as so many people complained. The reasons?

1)      With The Cell Phone Swap, the titles and first chapter were nearly identical – almost word for word.

2)      There are no other stories even vaguely similar to The Cell Phone Swap out there when DoNotMicrowave posted her story.

3)      Though Im back and Your Mistake have similar concepts, they’re carried out differently.

Either way, books are so much more memorable and exciting when they’re new ideas. For example, Just One Night @SomeoneLovesYou is a very exciting book about a player who changes for a girl (yes, I know, overused) but he’s the one with unrequited love because she was using him. There might be a few other seemingly clichéd happenings, but I guarantee that while you’re reading it you’ll never notice because they aren’t real clichés.
