Eleven years later...

A girl by the name of Atena was collecting mangos by the river, when she suddenly heard an odd rustling noise over her shoulder. Instinctively, she grabbed her bow and an arrow from her back and aimed it directly behind her, prepared to shoot if necessary. However, the only evidence of the loud disturbance was a poisonous dart frog, which was hopping away quickly. Sighing, she resumed plucking the tasty fruits from the tree. She had always been very paranoid, and seeing a pair of bright, yellow eyes watching her the other day didn't help her much at all.

Atena, as you can probably tell, is somewhat of an unusual child. She doesn't know any other people or where exactly she came from. All that she knows is that unlike most of the animals in the forest, no one else looks very much like her. But perhaps the strangest thing of all is that she could talk to all kinds of cats, from bobcats to lions. As a matter of fact, a mother and father bobcat adopted her when she was just a baby, but they would never elaborate where she came from, much to her dismay.

Sighing, she made her way through the beautiful trees, carrying a basket of mangos with her, as well as a bucket of fish which she had caught for her bobcat family earlier in the day. Soon enough, she made it to the cave which her family inhabited and she heard the two cubs, Mica and Maya wrestling each other. They froze once they noticed Atena's arrival.

"Ooh, is that fish I smell?" Maya purred in appreciation.

Atena giggled. "Yes, it's your favorite, vampire fishes. I only got four of them though, since they are rather difficult to catch and kill."

Mica however, had already put his head in the bucket and started chewing hungrily on one of the fishes.

"Mica!" exclaimed Maya in horror. "Leave some for me, ok? There's no need to be such a hog!" Mica then jumped on top of his sister, and they started to play fight once again.

"Break it up you two, break it up!" said Atena in an attempt to calm the siblings down. "You want to leave some for your parents, right?"

"Well, they said that they would be back tomorrow morning, since they are having a meeting with their friends tonight," stated Mica.

"Still, you never know if they will get a chance to eat when they're gone, so we want to be prepared just in case," replied the girl. "But I'll let you have one each, ok?"

"Ugh, ok fine!" yelled Mica, who was starting to have another temper tantrum.

"She's right you know," said Maya as she lightly shoved her brother, causing him to attack her again.

"Guys, I don't know about you, but I'm hungry so I'm going to eat the mangos that I collected," stated Atena, in an attempt to calm down the brother and sister. Luckily, it worked, and the two bobcats each grabbed a fish, munching down on it happily.

"You're the best big sister ever!" exclaimed Maya once she had finished her meal.

"Awe, you've said that at least once a day now, there's no need to spoil me!"

"Yeah, but you spoil us every day too," added Mica.

Atena hugged the two cubs, and they returned it, but not before jumping on top of her and play wrestling.

"Hey, get off me!" protested Atena as the two cubs rolled her around wildly.

The trio giggled and continued playing around until they noticed that there was a shadow in the room. Someone was outside of the cave, but who could it be? The figure walked closer, and they could tell that it was a small-boned bobcat. As the cat crept forward, they realized that it was their friend, Canopy, but she appeared to be tearing up.

"What's wrong, Canopy?" demanded Atena, worriedly.

 "They kidnapped my family..."

"Who?!" demanded Mica. "No one deserves to do this to my friend, I swear I'll get revenge!"

Mica's statement only caused Canopy to break down into more tears, and she struggled to say the following words, "She's back... Alala's back..."
