The soft tap of rain against the window was the only sound to be heard in a silent room. Letting out a soft huff, she tried her best to ignore the tapping. But as an hour past she found that the rain had only picked up and the sound became even louder.

With a tired eye, she looked over towards her night stand and glared at the bright red digits that almost blinded her in her lucid state.

2:14am.

Closing her eye once more, she frowned deeply as the effects of sleep began to wear away and her began to function.

Sitting up slowly, she placed a hand to her mouth and tried her best muffle the yawn that was bound to escape. Like a cat she curled her back and stretched as she tried to get a sense of her surrounds.

Her eyes weren't use to the darkness so it took a moment for her to be able to see that her light switch was just a hop over a pair of shoes and a skip from the leaning tower of textbooks that were lining the wall right beside her door.

Pressing her hand once again to her mouth she suppressed an yawn as she moved towards the light switch. With skillful movements, she flicked her wrist and instant the room was lit with a soft yellow glow.

Nodding her head, she moved over towards her shelf. Picking up a pink plastic case, she pulled out a shiny cd with cute little drawings and horribly written words on it. Pressing a button, she inserted the cd and shortly a sad Arctic Monkey song began to play. She couldn't place the name of the song, but the faint overlay of rain and thunder playing over the track definitely gave it a sad feeling.

Moving over to her desk, she grabbed her computer and went right back into her bed.

It was two in the morning and she was sure that none of her online friends would be on at this hour until she remembered that a certain someone who lived in South Korea was mostly still up due to the fourteen hour time difference they shared.

Pulling up their chat, she noticed that a week had gone by since they had last spoke. The conversation was bland and rather short.

Taking a deep breathe, she decided that maybe it was time she sent the first message.

eyrehead is typing...

eyrehead: hey

After hitting send, she released a breathe she hadn't been aware that she was holding. It didn't even take two minutes before her computer pinged.

*ping*
