The familiar sound pulled her from the mesmerizing words of her favorite author. Swallowing, she grabbed the cool macbook and placed it on to her jean-clad thighs.

With a deep breath, she hit the space bar and watched as color quickly filled the wide screen.

k.nam: do you know your impossible to reach?

Her heart thumped against her chest, as she carefully read the words. She felt sick as she tired to think of something witty to say.

With jumbled nerves, her delicate fingers moved over the keyboard.

eyrehead: what do you mean?

k.nam is typing...

k.nam: i emailed you a few times and you have yet to reply back.

Her palms began to sweat as it dawned on her that a stranger has her im and is currently conversing with her.

k.nam is typing...

k.nam: i wanted to know if you were still interested in being penpals?

Slowly it began to click.

Two weeks back, she had placed an ad on blog for connecting and finding penpals. Her mom claimed that she was too anti-social, so she placed the ad and completely forgot about it.

In the ad she mentioned her email and im.

k.nam is typing...

k.nam: hello? still there?

She didn't actually believe that anyone would actually reply to her ad, so she was a bit shocked, but she wouldn't let them know that.

eyrehead is typing...

eyrehead: oh wow, sorry i completely forgot about that ad.

k.nam is typing...

k.nam: no problem, but are still interested or should i stop bothering you?

eyrehead is typing...

eyrehead: no i am still interested, just shocked anymore was even interested is all.

k.nam is typing...

k.nam: yay! well it's nearly one am on my side of the globe so i'll message you later!

Pushing her macbook off her lap, she stood from her bed and tried to figure out what she just agreed to.
